Museums are filled with precious artifacts that need careful attention when it comes to cleaning. The Nilfisk GM80 Museum Vacuum is an ideal solution to help curators and other museum professionals keep artifacts, exhibits, and delicate items clean and in great condition. This commercial-grade vacuum features a 2.25-gallon bag capacity, a multi-stage HEPA filtration system, a 7-piece micro toolkit, variable speed control, and more.
The Nilfisk Museum Vacuum Cleaner is also a popular vacuum for users in the pharmaceutical industry. With the added microtool kit, cleaning up fine hazardous dust and powders in pharmaceutical settings is easier, more detailed, and quicker. Variable suction and micro-attachments also make vacuuming small crevices, such as those on keyboards and sensitive electronic equipment, more effective than with conventional vacuums.
Whether you are vacuuming a sensitive environment or simply trying to maintain cleanliness, the last thing you want is to risk releasing harmful airborne particles and pollutants back into your space through the system's exhaust. That's why the Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum is equipped with a robust, four-stage filtration system to ensure that your vacuum's exhaust—and your environment—remain clean. This four-stage system includes:
As an option, the Nilfisk GM 80 with Variable Speed Control can be upgraded to include an ULPA, or Ultra Low Penetration Air, filter. The tightly woven ULPA filter (sold separately) can filter out 99.999% of particles as small as 0.12 microns in size and lasts approximately 1,000 hours under normal use. This filter is especially beneficial for maintaining a clean, contaminant-free environment in sensitive spaces.
The Nilfisk Museum Vacuum with Variable Speed Control includes a number of features to ensure easy, reliable, and effective cleaning for years to come.

Delivered fast and works well
Comments about Nilfisk Advance Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum (01790129):
We ordered the Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum for our museum and we absolutely love the results we have gotten so far.
I would definitely recommend the product to anyone in the museum field-the options with this product will most likely serve the needs of any institution; and for those looking for domestic use, this product will also be helpful and is versatile for all your needs.
We had looked at similar products with different companies and chose to go with Sylvane because of the great customer service, their promise to get our product out to us in just a couple days (which they did in one business day!), and no shipping and handling costs. Sylvane was a great company to work with--they picked up our call right away and answered all of our questions.
The vacuum cleaner came with variable control that was so useful in caring and cleaning for the various historic items we have in our collection. The low speed was ideal for the care of the extremely delicate tapestries in our collection. An extra bonus-the vacuum cleaner itself is so quiet-you can still have a conversation with your coworkers and hear the phone ringing.
This particular package also came with various extensions and nozzles, which were great for the range of needs we have at our museum. The five replacement bags were also convenient; you won't have to purchase extra bags for a while.
All these accessories made shopping easy and hassle-free; no need to purchase multiple items or items from other companies. All our needs were met with this one product.
For the price, convenience, and versatility this is a great product to purchase!
Comments about Nilfisk Advance Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum (01790129):
We ordered the Nilfisk GM80 to use in our museum because it is hands down the best vacuum for the job. It is best for historic, fragile artifacts because of the variable speed control. This maintains the suction, which can be turned down to protect the artifacts. We used this same model on a large 70 year old burlap rug and ran the Nilfisk for hours at the time, and the vacuum did not overheat. The HEPA filter was necessary in case of mold spores and other minute particulate matter.
The vac is petite and easily managed for the small items in our museum (works on paper, sculpture, textiles), but is substantial enough to also use industrially if needed. Sylvane was by far the least expensive company for purchasing this model, yet we got a lot of extras in the purchase, because of the museum package, such as the variable speed attachment, the HEPA filter, and the extra bags.
It arrived in less than 24 hours after ordering and there were no shipping costs. The directions included were concise and clear. So far, the product is well worth the cost. There are a couple of plastic pieces (mainly the handles) that I am concerned about holding up over time most of the machine is metal. I believe it will be substantial and useful over a long period of time. From extensive research, reviews, and experiences, we know this product is the best on the market for the cost and for our in-house museum conservation purposes. Sylvane was easy to use and shipped very quickly. We are pleased with their service and will use them again if needed, and definitely recommend them for purchasing this model.
Comments about Nilfisk Advance Nilfisk Museum Package Vacuum (01790129):
Very good filtration design - I am not an expert in this area, but when you have several layers of bags and filters, you get the idea that it must be filtering.
The canister is small and metal and rolls around good. It tends to fall over pretty easy, but it keeps working. You just find yourself picking it up 2 or 3 times during a vacuum.
The part that really needs improvement, in my opinion is the peripherals. When you are using the floor tool (which you would use most of the time...) it connects together easy, but it twists easy too where tubes connect to other tubes. Now, this doesn't seem to affect the suction at all, but it is a little aggravating (to me at least) when the handle is not 90 degrees. It doesn't seem to bother my wife at all, so maybe that's just me.
The other thing that is a little draining is the 30 foot power cord. It's nice that it's 30 feet, but there's nowhere to store it. No retractable storage like most vacuums - well every vacuum I think I've ever owned. And it's a heavy duty cord too, like one you'd see on a piece of audio equipment (mixing board or pre-amps, etc). It plugs in to the vacuum, just like the cord on the back of a computer (desktop model).
And there's nowhere on the vacuum to put the other tools, like the brush, crevice...
I will say that it has great suction.
So, you are really paying for the filtration with this unit. This was the motivation for us to buy it because we had a mold problem in our last house, and this vacuum traps mold spores down to .3 microns.
If Nilfisk could merge with Dyson, this would be an amazing machine. Dyson has the mechanics of vacuum cleaners down to a science. But who wants to take apart and clean that filthy canister on the Dyson. And Nilfisk has the filtration down to a science.
