Comments about Santa Fe Advance Duct Collar Kit (4026055):
We recently purchased and installed the Santa Fe Advance dehumidifier to address serious humidity concerns in our crawl space. Originally, we planned to just place the unit in a central location in our sealed crawl without any ducting. Our space, however, is on the large side of what this unit should handle at ~2100 square feet and has an irregular shape with only a tight opening connecting the main rectangular section of the space to a smaller (but still good size) annex off the back. We immediately experienced desired results in the main section of the crawl, where the unit was located, but after a week were not seeing improvement in the distant section under the annex. After considering alternatives, like fans, and talking with the customer service department, we decided to try ducting dehumidified air into that dead air space.
We had no previous experience with ductwork installation and were a little nervous about the project, but it proved to be pretty straightforward…and highly effective. Within hours of installing the ductwork, we had balanced out the air humidity readings in the two distant areas of our crawl. Within less than 2 days, we had both in our target range of 45-50% (down from 87% in one of those areas). We are very pleased with these results.
I have only two complaints about the duct collar kit. First, it seems a little overpriced for what you get. Two fitted pieces of sheet metal and two collars for nearly one hundred dollars (the other attachments I purchased at my local hardware store were several dollars apiece). Also, I only needed one of the two solutions included in the box (for discharged air, not incoming air) and thus would have preferred for the solutions to be sold separately. Finally, most of the sealing foam around the edges of each component had come away from the adhesive during shipping. I was able to reattach it wasn't as secure as I would have liked (and I reinforced those seams with duct tape).

The kit is very straightforward and easy to install. Instructions are well written and easy to follow. The most difficult part will be finding uninsulated 8" flex hose to use with the collar. I searched and finally had to purchase a full box of insulated 8" flex hose at Home Depot in a much larger quantity than I needed and the remove the insulation.
It would be nice if Sylvane offered the flex hose or included 10 feet in the kit.

The kit installed easily. There is one problem with it....two thirds of the foam sealant had come off the kit in transit. I reinstalled it but the adhesive did not hold. I bought a roll of foil tape to seal everything ......100 dollars for the kit and you have to remake it yourself....?

A great addition to my Santa Fe Advance! It vastly improved the air quality in my finished basement! The musty odor is gone! The duct work helped the unit to reach out and turn over more air.
