Ranked as one of the most energy efficient units on the market, this American-made residential dehumidifier is guaranteed to eliminate mold and mildew problems (and their musty smells) in large or very moist basements. This unit is capable of removing over 100 pints of water per day at AHAM (80 Degrees F, 60% RH) and over 200 pints of water per day at saturation.
Most off-the-shelf dehumidifiers rate their pints-per-day dehumidification capabilities at saturation (100% Relative Humidity) which is misleading. Basements environments are typically cooler and very moist and these low quality units will fail or provide inadequate dehumidification under those conditions. With this unit, also known as the Santa Fe Whole Basement Dehumidifier or the Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier, you can be confident that it will get the job done.
This unit (model # 4021400) is designed to cover up to 3000 sq ft; however, it works most efficiently in spaces from 1000 sq ft - 2500 sq ft in size. When it comes to large spaces though, it's best to get a consultation on your specific environment. Please call our product experts at (800) 934-9194 for a free profile and recommendation.

Product Profile
This high-capacity dehumidifier is highly reliable and comes with everything you need to start eliminating excess moisture from the air:
- Unit
- 6-ft Power Cord
- 4 Wheels
- Drain Hose
- Foam Pre-filter
- Pleated Secondary Filter
- Free (by mail) Digital Humidity Gauge Included with Purchase
For many applications, no assembly is required. Simply plug the unit in and run the drain hose. Because of the unit's ability to dehumidify a large volume of water, it should be setup for permanent drainage.
How It Works
This high-efficiency residential dehumidifier utilizes refrigeration to cool the incoming air stream below its dew point as it passes through the dehumidification (evaporator) coil. This cooling results in the removal of moisture (latent heat) and reduction of the temperature (sensible heat). The cooled and dried air is used to pre-cool the incoming air stream resulting in up to a 200% increase in overall efficiency. After the pre-cooling stage, the processed air is reheated by passing through the condenser coil. The latent heat removed by the evaporator coil is then returned to the air stream as sensible heat, resulting in an overall increase in temperature from the incoming air.
Setup is a snap:
- Simply plug the dehumidifier into a standard 15 amp, 110 volt grounded outlet.
- Direct gravity drain hose to floor drain. Drain hose can be extended using 1/2 inch pvc pipe.
Condensation Pump Option
If the gravity drain isn’t a possible option for eliminating the collected water, a condensation pump kit is available. This unit is easily adaptable to use a condensate pump, and this will give you the option of running the drain hose up and out a window or around a doorway or through a drill hole to your yard or garden. These pumps are energy efficient as well and work with a flow switch that allows the pump only to run when needed.
Special Features
This commercial-grade, ultra-efficient unit stands far above its competitors when it comes to the amount of water it can absorb from the air at the least cost to you. Additionally, this system also features a built-in defrost system, so that it can operate down to 55º F and won’t freeze up in those cold basement conditions.
- The unit is controlled by a dehumidistat with ON and OFF settings and a variable setting range from 20% to 80%.
- The unit contains a blower switch that permits continuous blower operation independent of dehumidification.
Ducting
Ducting the Santa Fe Classic allows you several options for using it in multiple spaces at any one time. It also allows you to hide your dehumidifier away in a storage space or place it wherever you need and run ducting to and from your space. There are several options available to configure the unit:
- Leave the unit unducted to work in an open space.
- Duct multiple rooms for air to flow back and forth from.
- Duct the air from one room and have it to blow the dry air into the room the unit is sitting in.
Filter
The Santa Fe Classic has a standard filter that helps to reduce the amount of dirt and particles that can get into the machine. This filter should be changed between 6 months and a year, depending on how polluted it becomes.
Low-Sound Operation
This machine doesn’t create an excess amount of sound. In fact, our proprietary lab tests indicate a sound measurement of 58 - 62 decibels of sound while the fan and compressor are active at 6 ft away, depending on where the sound meter is in relation to the unit. However, if you find this machine isn’t as quiet as you would like, there is an optional muffler kit available to reduce the air flow sound level.

ENERGY STAR Rated
These units are Energy Star rated, meaning they are an energy efficient choice that is good for your finances and for the environment. Products labeled ENERGY STAR have the special distinction of being high energy-saving appliances that don't sacrifice performance, style, or quality. Choosing an ENERGY STAR product means you get the results you want without creating pollution or consuming excess energy. |
Furthermore, the Santa Fe line of units are the most energy efficient units of all Energy Star-rated dehumidifiers as confirmed on our May 2005 specifications chart comparing all Energy Star units. As such, these units will cost less to run per pint of water removed from the air than any other units on the market.
