Ranked as one of the most energy-efficient residential dehumidifiers on the market, the American-made Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier eliminates mold and mildew problems in large humid basements and crawl spaces. The Classic removes 110 pints of moisture per day under AHAM conditions (80 degrees F at 60% RH) and approximately 220 pints at saturation (100% relative humidity). It dehumidifies spaces as large as 2,500 square feet and does it with Energy Star efficiency.
In many applications, the Santa Fe Classic requires virtually no assembly. Simply plug it into a standard 15-amp 115-volt grounded outlet, attach the supplied drain hose, and route it to a nearby floor drain.

Santa Fe dehumidifiers are known for efficient operation that often exceeds Energy Star standards. The Santa Fe Classic is constructed with a more efficient compressor, refrigerator coils, and internal fan—and uses Santa Fe's efficiency-boosting pre-cooling technology. As a result, it dehumidifies at a higher energy factor than comparable models of the same capacity. The Classic removes 3 liters of moisture per kilowatt hour (L/kWh), which exceeds Energy Star's minimum energy factor standard for residential dehumidifiers. It's among the most energy-efficient large-capacity dehumidifiers on the market.
The Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier is easily customizable for your specific application and installation needs. Out of the box, it can be operated as a standalone dehumidifier simply by plugging it into a 115-volt outlet and routing the included gravity drain hose to a nearby drain. By purchasing a few accessories, the Classic can also be setup to support pumped drainage and ducted applications.
Optional Condensate Pump
As an alternative to gravity drainage, an external condensate pump is available as an accessory for the Classic. Easy to setup and use, the optional condensate pump (sold separately) includes a 20-foot drain hose, giving you the option to run it across longer distances to drain condensate. You can also run the drain hose upward and out through a window (provides 15 feet of vertical lift), around to a doorway, or through a drilled hole to your yard or garden. To conserve energy, the pump features a float switch that directs it to run only when needed.
Optional Ducting Kit
An optional collar duct kit and ducting accessories are also available. You might prefer to duct your dehumidifier if standalone operation is not possible or not practical. Popular ducting options include:

I purchased the Santa Fe Classic to replace a defunct Kenmore model. I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money on this unit after many glowing reviews. It is a fantastic unit. Solidly built, fast and efficient. My ~1000 sq ft. basement went from water condensing on the walls and piping to comfortable and dry in one weekend. The unit is a little loud, but it's worth it. After about a week and half, the unit now seems to only cycle on once or twice a day for about a half hour.
I also bought the condensate pump and the two work well together.
Would I buy this unit again? Absolutely. Would I recommend this unit? Without hesitation.

I have this unit in an unfinished 2200 sq ft basement. it worked excellently for 4 years but this year it stopped dehumidifying. I have called the therma stor service department who offered a few options before removing the cover. those options did not work so we had to remove the outer panel and do some tests together. while that is a nice option to have with the service people here's the problem. they diagnosed it to be a bad refrigeration part for a leak.
but there are basically no options to get this repaired. they aren't any authorized thermastor service people. No one in my area (PA) knows how to repair this or they do not want to get involved and I can't blame them. They are just no familiar with the unit. The only other option is to send it back to Thermastor in WI at my expense both ways. That also requires me to buy a pallet. The est. costs by Thermastor is $600. BUYER BEWARE!

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
We bought this dehumidifier because the humidity in our house was way too high. We developed a mold problem because of this. Put it in the basement and it has brought the humidity levels down from 60% to around 30%. You can feel a difference in the air. I would highly recommend this product!

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
I'm at the 5-year mark and the unit stopped dehumidifying most likely due to a R22-freon leak. The company said they would cover parts but getting someone local to service it (two house calls) and then the cost of R22-freon just doesn't add up. Shipping it back to the company to get fixed comes with a $600 price tag.
At this point I'm cutting my losses and buying a new (and much cheaper) unit.
If you do decide to buy this well built unit be prepared to spend another $600+ bucks in 5 years.

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
This thing outperformed 2 70pt portable units, by itself, and for half the power, in my sealed indoor garden. I didn't have room to mount a dual MAX XT, so this was my next best option. I tried a 180pt until from Ideal Air, and it was worse than 1 70pt unit, This 110 is truly RATED for 110 (I actually get about 125 from it in 24hrs @ 75* 50RH). Condensate pump is a MUST, and they have pre-drilled holes to easily install it.

Did lots of research prior to buying. Yes it's not inexpensive. But you get what you pay for. All American product. Well made, sturdy, well packaged for shipping. This thing is a dehumidifying beast. Has been on full blast for two weeks now, without a hiccup. It only took a few hours for it to take us down from 50% to 30% humidity.

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
This is the second Sante Fe Classic that I have owned. My first totally changed my basement and made it a livable space. My basement is 1,300 square feet and has real humidity issues.
When it finally died after a long life, the musty smell was back within a week. I dragged my feet before ordering a second Sante Fe Classic and within a few weeks I suddenly had light surface rust on some of my tools in my basement shop.
I ordered my second Classic and when it came I wheeled it into place, plugged it in and it went to work. In a few days the musty smell was gone and there are no more rust issues on my expensive tools in the workshop. The family room in the basement is a great place to hang out in again as well.
These dehumidifiers are in a totally seperate league than the smaller models you buy at the department stores. They are not cheap but they are heavy duty compared to the department store models. If you have a basement or crawl space with real humidity issues these are the answer.

Product functioned exactly as required, drain tube could be longer, so plan on adding a barrel splice to a drain or pump.

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
After Hurricane Irene my basement had a major mold problem. After remediating the problem I delayed buying the highly recommended Sylvane because I did not want to add another $1,000 plus to my costs. Within two months the air started getting musty and I bit the bullet. Since installing the Sylvane, my air quality has remained excellent. My humidity level remains below 50% and most importantly there has been NO RETURN of MOLD! Worth the price. Does the job. Satisfying results.

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
This unit is large compared to my old dehumidifier, but it really does the job. Initially it ran for two days, and produced a steady stream of water, then kept humidity at 50%. My basement had been damp for 29 years, and I never knew how dry it could be before I bought my Santa Fe Classic. It is positioned on a workbench on one side of the basement area and still captures moisture from the far side, and keeps the entire basement dry. Well made, solid, and worth every penny.

Comments about Santa Fe Classic Dehumidifier:
I purchased the Santa Fe Classic dehumidifier couple months ago. I installed it in my below ground finished basement. The installation was pretty straight forward, you don't need to be a DIY guru. I just bought an extension hose to drain it in my sump pump, the one that comes with it was too short for me.
The dehumidifier made tremendous difference in just 2 days. Before its arrival, the relative humidity level in the basement was constant at around 80% in the summer months, it smelled musty and unpleasant. Apparently this is normal here in the DC area. It ran non-stop for 2 days and brought the humidity down to 36% and the musty smell gradually went away. Since mold can't grow at humidity below 50%, I decided to let it keep the humidity around 45%, which reduced the run time significantly. At 36% it was running much more often.
The device is quite noisy if it's operating in the living area or the bedroom. Since it's my basement, I can barely hear its operation. Currently is sitting in the middle of my 1000 sq ft basement. I'm thinking of moving it into the utility room and closing the door to reduce the noise level even further. I'll have to cut out some vents to allow air circulation though.
My electric bill has went up quite a bit, but I hope that I won't have to run it that much in the colder months. Supposedly it is much more efficient than the cheap dehumidifiers you can buy from home improvement stores.
The construction feels solid, commercial grade. Moving it on flat and smooth surface is easy, it's standing on wheels.
