Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
The delivery of the product was on time and not damaged. We are using the dehumidifier in the crawl space which has a dirt floor. I have been recovering from a mold issue from 7 months ago and still had some of the whispy cough etc. After a few days with this unit, I had noticed that my lungs were clearing up rather quickly. After a week, I noticed the crawl space greatly decreased in the moldly smell. I could even go down there! I even notice the house is fresher smelling, even after being closed up. It has been 2 weeks now and I no longer have that nagging cough in my lungs. The unit is heavy (150 lbs) so it did take two people to put it in place, but set up was easy enough for one. I do hear it somewhat, but it sounds like a quiet dishwasher running. I don't sleep well with noise and it is not bothering my sleep. I am very impressed with the unit and the reviews I had read before purchasing were mostly right on. I would recommend this product.

Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
I had a damp basement with black mold and bad odors. After installing footing drains, external water barrier and performing mold remediation, I still needed to solve the remaining moisture problem, i.e high humidity levels, damp walls, etc. I installed the unit in October 2012, and within a week could see a substantial improvement. Current (Jan 2013) humidity levels are consistently maintained at 45-47%, which is below the mold threshold (yes, that means no mold) and the smell is gone. I was concerned about noise, which is why I picked this unit over some of the other choices, and I'm glad I did.
After years of inadequate residential dehumidifiers, this has done the trick.

Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
Moving this unit is really a 2 man job. It took me hours (by myself) to move this unit into position in my crawl space. I plugged it in and flipped the on switch. It didn't turn on. I replaced the extension cord and tried again. No luck. I changed the outlet I had it originally plugged in to. It would not turn on. I found that it tripped both GFI circuits I plugged it into. I tried plugging in other electronic devices to check the lines and circuits without a problem. I called my electrician to confirm that the extension cord should handle 4.9 amps. He told me it should not trip the GFI circuits. He said there was something wrong with it and to return it. So after another few hours of moving it out of my crawl space, I packed it back up and returned it for a full refund. I'm not willing to go through that again, so I am looking for a smaller unit.

Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
We bought this dehumidifier for our basement to help get rid of the "basement smell" After running it for a day the smell was almost completely gone. It took some time for the unit to catch up and get the humidity down to 50% but once it got there I realized how energy efficient this thing was. Our old unit would run all day and all night and still never get caught up. This unit only runs about 1 or 2 hours a day. (not nearly as much as the old one)

Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
I purchased this dehumidifier for my basement. Just set the desired humidity level and let it do its job. Unit is really quiet and uses about 4.6Apms at around 70F temperature. Unit is heavy and big but that is how to achieve its efficiency. Initial out of pocket is high. It runs 10 hours per day with humidity set about 55%. Based on my rough calculation, the extra cost will be compensated in about 10 years by saving the electric bill. Just like a hybrid car that needs to be driven 100kmiles to compensate the extra premium. I should buy it a few years ago for extra saving on the cheap dehumidifer units. Cheap dehumidifiers even with EnergyStar are not efficient as a modified (drain condensation water instead of evaporating through condenser) window AC unit used as dehumidifier. The air bowing out of a cheap dehumidifier is hot, which means all you electric energy, while the Impact XT is barely warm. There is hugh difference. Go green and enjoy.

Comments about Santa Fe Impact Dehumidifier:
The Santa Fe Impact dehumidifier was purchased towards the end of spring. It initially worked continuously 24/7 for 3-4 days until it was able to achieve the set humidity level. Since then, it's been running intermittently as needed and has maintained the desired relative humidity in a fairly spacious unfinished basement, turning it to be the most comfortable space in the house, especially with the current heat and humidity in this summertime. Ultimately, the dehumidifier will be ducted when work to finish the basement is started. I'm hoping that it will still be as efficient in that setup.
