The RX unit is a quiet yet powerful dehumidifier with a free-standing design that provides high-efficiency humidity control; specifically, it can remove 74 pints of water per day at AHAM and 148 pints at saturation. Decorating Ideas and Options
These units come in white with a sturdy metal top and smooth cabinet design. Many decorating options can be used on the cabinet including painting, paneling or wallpapering. Your local kitchen or cabinet shop may be able to provide additional decorating options including wood veneer panels for the cabinet, and wood or other laminate choices for the top.
The unique design of this system offers you several options, as you have the ability to place it in a finished basement, library, or bedroom; with such a small pleasant physical profile, you can easily set the unit up wherever you need.
How It Works
The high-efficiency dehumidifier utilizes refrigeration to cool the incoming air stream below its dew point as it passes through the dehumidification (evaporator) coil. This cooling results in the removal of moisture (latent heat) and reduction of the temperature (sensible heat). The cooled and dried air is used to pre-cool the incoming air stream resulting in up to a 300% increase in overall efficiency. After the pre-cooling stage the processed air is reheated by passing through the condenser coil. The latent heat removed by the evaporator coil is returned to the air stream at this stage as sensible heat, resulting in an overall increase in temperature from the incoming air.
Special Features
This unit comes with a number of specially designed features that make dehumidifying your space even easier and more worry-free:
- Standard air filtration is provided by a pleated polyester and cotton blend media filter located at the air-intake at the top of the unit. The efficiency rating of this filter is 40% in the ASHRAE 52-76 Dust Spot Test.
- The optional HEPA filter is a micro-glass paper mini-pleat filter located in a special housing which can be mounted on the back of the cabinet. The efficiency rating of this filter is 99.97% on the DOP test.
- The unit is controlled by a dehumidistat with positive ON and OFF settings and a variable setting range from 20% to 80%.
- The unit contains a blower switch that permits continuous blower operation for filtration, independent of dehumidification.
- This unit is accurately labeled “high capacity.” It removes 74 pints of water per day at AHAM, which is up to 5 times more than residential dehumidifiers
- The high efficiency of this unit allows it to dehumidify more pints of water per kilowatt of electricity than many other dehumidifiers, making it up to 80% more efficient.
Air Filtration
This unit is upgradeable so that you can purify your air from allergens and other pollution particles. By adding HEPA filtration, you can filter out 99.97% of particles 0.3 micrometers or larger. There is also the option for activated carbon filtration available. Carbon is excellent at removing odors and chemicals from your home. Temperature Operation
This unit has a built-in defrost system that is designed for operation down to 55°F.
Humidity Control
When sized properly this system will maintain the EPA recommended relative humidity of 45% to 50% — ideal conditions for an odor free, dry comfortable living and storage space.

Every Home Should Have One

This is the second home for which I've purchased this unit. The other home was a converted barn which still had some residual odor and moisture in the basement -- not a good combination. From day one, this unit removed all the problems and kept the basement (which used to be stables) bone dry and odor-free. We actually ran a business out of the basement for eight years. We sold that house (left the unit with the new owners) and bought a new unit for our home (with a finished basement) on the ocean. On foggy days, the basement would be very damp. But not any more. It's dry as a bone. The unit is well designed, not obtrusive, and the internal pump is perfect -- we drilled a hole in the wood of the casement window and all water exits into the sand.
