Overall, I'm pleased withe the dehumidifier. However, the operating instructions should mention that the square styrofoam block in the automatic shut off mechanism should remain. I thought it was part of the packaging and removed it. After running the unit for a day (in a basement that had high humidity), I was concerned why it never shut off or indicated the bucket was full. The bucket was filled to the top and caused spillage as a result. Upon calling Comfort-Aire, I asked about that block and they told me it was necessary. Luckily, I hadn't thrown it away.

We are absolutely TOTALLY pleased with our dehumidifier. It arrived so promptly, and we put it to use immediately. The one we had before kept freezing up all the time, so never did the job. The Comfort-Aire BHD-651-G Dehumidifier is a work horse, and has already taken care of that "musty" basement smell we had to put up with till now. I'd even bought products to kill mold and mildew, but they failed to do the trick. We would HIGHLY recommend this dehumidifier to anyone looking to keep their basement (or whatever area) nice and dry. So glad we found this product!

So far, the dehumidifier is working OK. We just returned from a 10 day trip. We had hooked up the machine to a drain, by way of a hose, and it worked fine. We set the humidity level at 55% while we were gone and have reset it to 50% while we are at home. The machine has done a good job of pulling the moisture out of the ambient basement air.

Was very easy to set up and adjust, instructions very clear. In operation now in a very damp basement replaces an 6 year old model , which was in operation 24 hours a day 7 days a week for 6 years steady never stopped. The basement never got below 50% RH.

I am very satisfied with my purchase from Sylvane.com. Because of all the rain we had this Spring in Ohio, I felt I needed a dehumidifier for the finished lower level of my home, as it started to have a musty odor which had never appeared in the nine years I have been in my home.

After doing some research online and, reading reviews, I chose to purchase from Sylvane. I ordered late on Thursday June 17 and received my dehumidifier on Monday June 21 in the afternoon. What prompt service!! The dehumidifier came safely packaged in an outer corrugated package over the original box. I had no trouble taking it out of the packaging and setting it up. It's very easy to handle as well. 3

I was amazed how quickly water was collecting in the water bucket even though there was no sign of any water in the entire lower level. I actually emptied the water bucket almost daily for the first week. The musty odor has completely gone away. I am very happy with this dehumidifier and would recommend it. The dehumidifier did a terrific job and I continue to have it running for maintaining a fresh smelling lower level of my home. Thank you Sylvane for great customer service, prompt delivery, and a reliable product.

I recently built a beautiful below ground finished basement (April 2011) that is approximately 1700 square feet finished. I was experiencing 60-63% humidity levels in the finished basement, as I live in Iowa which has high summer humidity. I researched the local large discount store dehumidifier products and was not encouraged, plus my previous purchases of their products was disappointing. After finding the Sylvane website and researching their products, which included a phone call to their inside sales, I decided on the Comfort-Aire BHD-651-G dehumidifier. I've had the product for approximately two months and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the operational performance, reliability, quietness, features and looks!

I'm also satisfied with the professionalism of the inside sales consultant that helped me with the product selection while educating me on how to best address humidity problems and match it to the right capacity product. The humidity level is now in the 45% range which was our goal. From a durability standpoint, I hope and expect this product will perform each season. When my next door neighbor saw my product and the results, he promptly ordered an identical model for his basement. I've also shared the Sylvane website with a friend that owns a HVAC business for his interest and recommendations to his customers.

The unit works great has been running for 3 weeks now and my basement is drier than ever. The timing controls are a little weird. Not sure how to cycle it on and off every 2-3 hours. Other than that it works great. Have hose attached feeding directly to the sump pump.

PRODUCT ARRIVED IN GOOD TIME, NOT DAMAGED. I'VE USED IT ABOUT 2 WEEKS NOW, SO FAR IT'S DONE A WONDERFUL JOB, MY BASEMENT IS DRY ENOUGH NOW FOR ME TO CONTINUE RENOVATING, AND NO MORE MUSTY SMELL. I THINK THE SOUND FROM IT IS MINIMAL,NOT AN ISSUE FOR ME. I'M HOPING TO GET LONG USAGE TIME FROM IT, COMPARED TO THE LG BRAND I HAD PURCHASED FROM HOME DEPOT, IT LASTED MAYBE A YEAR, NOT GOOD.

I needed a dehumidifier that would be able to handle the rain forest that my finished basement often feels like. This product is everything I needed; it more than met my expectations. I've read reviews that describe it as loud, and if it were in a bedroom I might feel differently, but I barely hear it at all where it is in my house, so I have no complaint in that regard. I haven't had it long (a month or so) so I can't speak to its longevity, but at this point I'm very happy with it. It arrived when it was promised to arrive, and was priced less than the same model I had seen advertised from a different company.
