The dehumidifier works great, the only question I have is why the fan runs continuously even if it is not dehumidifying. The shipment from Sylvane arrived ahead of schedule and was in perfect condition when it arrived. I would order from Sylvane again.

The humidifier is quiet and seems to work well. It is rated for a much larger area than the basement and can only get the RH to 40%, not lower. However it has dried up the basement very nicely.

My 4 year old noisy, rattling Whirlpool dehumidifier stop working this summer and I could tell my basement was getting very damp and musty. I needed a new unit quick but my wife had one request of the next dehumidifier, it had to be quiet! I read all the reviews I could find and took a gamble on the Danby unit.

First of all I received the unit from Sylvane faster than I thought possible (less than a week) and within two days my basement was comfortable and dry! Now for the noise factor, yes the fan runs all the time but at the low setting it just background white noise. In fact I have to open the basement door to make sure its running. As an engineer I am impressed with the design, construction and functionality of this unit and as a husband I am now happy because my wife is happy! Bottom line is that the unit has been running for over a month with no problems and I have a comfortable dry basement.

The only reason I don't give this a 5 star is it is a bit noisy, and I do have it in my dining area, so it can dry out the main living area on my first floor. I was very leery about purchasing an unheard of (to me) brand, online! But, I read lots of reviews and tried looking at consumer reports for information on this line of products. I have two other dehumidifiers, one which is shutting off in error (still have not figured out what the issue is!) and I really needed another one.

This is not a lot more $ than what I paid, and I feel it is a better quality item, and according to the reviews, it should be less troublesome! All the information I could find was positive (except for the noise), which is not really louder than what I already had, so that is a moot point. Although a bit heavy, it moves easily on the wheels, and I like the register which shows the current humidity and the success is removal

This unit is very quiet; you can hardly hear the compressor turn on. Air flow is not adjustable and exits from the top of the unit. Finish is a shiny, slick plastic. Bucket fits tightly into the unit, and I have to get down on my knees to line it up properly. Need to empty the bucket in a tub or shower - too tricky to pour into a sink without making a mess.

When I talked with the Sylvane sales rep, he estimated the unit would last for 4 years. Unit was shipped in original packing with an outer box and some bubble wrap. Packing was ok, but not great. Unit arrived without damage, mostly due to good packaging from the manufacturer. Unit is made in China.

Unit works great. Dehumidifies efficiently, and the air exiting the unit is not that warm.

Bought this dehumidifier in May 2011 after many rainstorms left the basement smelling like a wet gym bag. Has been running everyday since. No issues, no problems and the musty smell is gone. Basement is about 800-900 sq ft, unfinished cement slab. Using the drain hose feature to have the water go directly to the sump pump pit. Energy consumption is very low as I have not seen any real increase in electric bill. Would buy another Danby unit from Sylvane in a heartbeat. Didn't give it 5 stars as it's only been running 4 months.

After plugging in our new Danby dehumidifier (which by the way was delivered much quicker than expected) we had to empty the bucket almost 4 times a day. That's how damp our very small basement was. Then we eventually hooked up the drain hose and the humidity is gone as well as the floor is no longer damp. The peace of mind that mold won't be growing down there is priceless. Also I cannot hear it running at all until I lean towards the basement stairs and then it's so quiet it's barely audible. Very happy with this purchase as we are having an unusually humid and hot summer.

I have had this product for one month now. I am very impressed with it. I never knew my basement could be so dry. It has always been damp, smelly, and started getting mildew. I had 1/2 a bucket full of water about one hour after turning the machine on on.

My only complaint is the hose that was supplied for the constant drainage was so short it was useless. My sump pump/drain is on the opposite side of the basement from where the water problem was. I purchased a common garden hose that was supposed to fit(per instruction manual). It did not connect properly and spilled the water out onto the floor before I noticed what was happening. I had a big puddle to clean up. I then took the plastic supplied hose to a hardware store and showed them, explained the situation. They found a fitting that would fit on the back of the machine to the garden hose. Now I do not have anymore leaks and a nice dry basement. This is an excellent machine.
