Does the job as claimed. Although I did not think that "shut down" when desired humidity level was reached would be a problem, I now regret not searching for a unit that has that feature.

We bought this machine in May, 2011. It stopped working (with gentle use and regular cleaning) after 6 months. The company, Danby, wants to send us upwards of an hour drive away from our city to have it repaired. This requirement came after they asked me to pay $70 for a repair person to come to our home and I refused (the first repair company didn't have a store-front).

Danby refuses to replace the machine nor to allow us to ship the unit for repair. So we are either forced to take two half- days from work (not to mention spend money on gas) to take it to be repaired or buy another machine.

When you consider this machine, please note its extremely short life-span and the cost of repairing it (while under warranty).

I bought this based on previously owning a great Danby 25 pint dehumidifier which was bigger, but more quiet (it worked fine for 5 years, sold it when we moved). That one also turned off when not in use, instead of running the fan. This one has a smaller bucket (overall, it's smaller) but it has the benefit of the bucket unloading from the front instead of the back. I wish this one was more quiet, but it does remove water from the humid Portland OR air, which is what I bought it for. We just don't have it on all the time.

We live in an area of Ohio that gets more rain than Seattle and needed something for the old basement. It was always damp and had the "wet" smell. This dehumidifier knocked it down almost overnight! Now you would never even know it. I have already recommended this to my family and friends. The fan runs constantly, but that doesn't bother me

Last winter my partner and I sealed our windows to keep heat in and dampness out of our Portland, OR home. Turns out we kept a whole lot of dampness in and ended up with black mold galore growing on all our window sills and panes in our bedroom.

Needless to say, we needed a way to be sure to get the moisture out! After lots of research we went with a Danby model and so far have been very satisfied with it! The rains haven't completely settled in, but I think our little Danby is up for the challenge. We no longer feel like we are going to sleep in damp sheets! Our machine was packaged safely (though I will never understand why a box needs to be in another box with so much paper!) and arrived within a week of ordering it. FREE SHIPPING! How great is that on such a hefty machine!?

So far we haven't had any operational issues and think it works quite swiftly. It's not noisy per se, but a consistent humming that is quite noticeable for a light sleeper. Those who snooze best with white noise will be heaven! The machine isn't an eyesore like the brown Kenmore I grew up with in my basement. We like the easy-to-read buttons that measure air temp and humidity level. They're a cinch to operate too! I really like knowing what humidity the room started with and how quickly it decreased! The tube that comes with it for continual drainage is nifty should we get tired of emptying the bucket. We think this is the best fit of all the machines out there!

Nice little dehumidifier. Fair price, shipped fast, received in perfect condition. Float for automatic shut off did not work once. The floor needed to get washed anyway.

Was delivered on time. packaged well. I was impressed with the speed. It works great! Is very quiet. I like the shut off when the bucket gets full.

After the big stormed passed, our basement became quite damp and the dehumidifier we brought from Japan does not work, maybe due to too humid. My husband and I started to consider purchase a new dehumidifier and due to not our unfamiliar with this type of products, we googled a lot online and also talked to workmate and neighbor nearby to make sure that we can make a quick and correct decision.

The order came only 2 days after ordering online and the start- up is so easy, it began to work in our basement. It is tiny in scale, but quite power in its function, generally we put on 2 hours every night, and you always could expect to put the water out of the box. Though it is quite short time since purchase, we do really love this cute machine, hopefully I can update you after a while to see the improvement effect on our basement.
