Purchsed the Classic August 2011 . I have a 950 sqft machine shop in my home basement made of fieldstone. Living in New England, the basements get damp. My lathes, bandsaw, drills, mills and bar stock are kept dry with this unit.

I needed a quality commercial dehumidfier to keep moisture off the machines and this is it. There is no musty smell associated with a damp basement.

I read for months and spoke to people before purchasing the Classic. While in one of the "Box Stores" last summer a gent was carring in one of the off-the-shelf dehumidifiers. I asked what was wrong & he said it was the second one which failed after a few months.

The size of the unit and volume of air this moves can not be compaired to off-the-shelf Box Store models.

The delivery for this item was VERY FAST!!! I was excited to plug it in and see it start working. Sure enough one night later (ran about 8 hours) there was no more basement smell leaking into the first floor of our home. This dehumidifier is an awesome addition. We have done so much updating in the house and this is something that will help the house in the long run be pulling out the humidity.

I purchased the Santa Fe Classic for my 2000 foot basement. The unit is easy to move across the floor and the appearance is very acceptable. I found it very easy to dial in the humidity level I was looking for. The unit is not noisy. I can barely hear the unit running on the main floor. Buying a dehumidifier is not exactly a typical task a female would make on a weekly basis. However, I found the Sylvane website and customer service to be extremely helpful. They gave me the confidence that I was making the right decision. I plugged the unit in and it is working like a charm.

Open the box, plug it in, DONE! It is solid, well built, no frills and gets the job done exactly as advertised. The energy efficiency and removal rate that Sante-Fe claims is accurate as I actually measured both (Yes, I am a dorky engineer) It is still made in America to top it all off. A bit pricey, but you gotta pay to play... I am very pleased with this unit mostly because it is and does exactly what it is advertised to do!

After using wimpy units for years I went for the plunge after putting a new floor in my basement. This unit it rock solid and has made a huge difference in my basement. The dank smell is gone.

Purchased Santa Fee Classic with duct kit and muffler kit 3 yrs ago. Total cost >[$]. Unit stopped working after a little over 2.5 yrs. Leak in the coolant system. I had a 3 yr warranty on the unit and it was just repaired in the nick of time. Other than the hassle of lugging this out of my basement (and back in) and packing it up and not having a dehumidifier for 4 weeks or so, the repair and shipping costs were covered. When receiving the repaired unit back from Sylvane, it had (minor) scratches that were not there before.1. The unit broke way too early for the price and expected as well as claimed quality. At this price, the unit should last 10 yrs without issues. 2. When I bought in 2009, the unit came with 3 yrs warranty shipping, parts & labour. Does it still come with that warranty today?Also, when I called and spoke to the very helpful customer service and tech department, they mentioned that there is a very long wait list of units to be repaired - not exactly a good message for the person who bought or thinks about buying a Santa Fee. Last but not least: Unit is NOT quiet, even with muffler kit. You can hear this baby humming away even if in another room or the rooms a floor above. Bottom line: A good unit, but it broke way too early which appears to be common.

i bought this product for my damp basement. It works great. A little pricey but after using it for a couple of days it was worth every penny. the smell is gone and that was after 2 days. The unit Ran constantly for A day getting out all the moisture and by the 2nd day it started cycling. I also purchased a duct kit and condensation pump. The unit came with a free digital humidity guage which i placed in the middle of the basement. I have the unit set for 50% humidity and the gauge showed exactly that. The classic is a little loud but i got used to it after a couple of days. And once it gets the humidity down it doesnt run as much. Very happy with purchase and Sylvane did a great job packaging and delivering the unit.

I had a moisture problem in my basement and mold/mildew developed. I had a regular store bought dehumidifier but the RH would only get down to about 68% so it was basically useless. I spent a weekend researching dehumidifiers online and stumbled upon this site. After a few hours I bit the bullet and bought this product.

It works great. The RH is down to 50% so I know the mold is doormant (I still have some cleaning to do). I simply set the hose to drain out the basement floor. I was a little worried about the noise and while it isn't silent, it's certainly not too loud.

I still have my old unit running just so I can monitor the RH. It's been two weeks and the little unit hasn't filled up yet.

I'd recommend this to anyone.

My 1600 sq ft basement humidity went from 74% to 38% in 3 days. The smell is gone, too.

This is not a small unit. Nor is it very quiet. But it's a great dehumidifier and works like a charm in our large basement. I've tried smaller, cheaper units purchased from the local hardware store. Based on my experience so far with the Sante Fe Classic, I won't be going back.
