This dehumidifier was purchased for use in our unfinished basement, which is completely below grade. It is replacing a 30 pint unit which was not very effective especially due to the coolness of our basement.
We use the basement as a work shop, laundry room, and also for various crafts, so it is important to maintain a low humidity level. The new Soleus dehumidifier was delivered about one week after ordering, arriving on time and in good condition. It was extremely easy to unpack and set up. It was easy to carry downstairs since it has a built in carrying handle on top of the machine.
The manual is very concise and is recommended reading since it details all the features and indicates that it should be operated in the continuous mode for the first 24 hour break in period, probably not the way I would have set it up. This machine works very well at removing moisture. I had no idea that our basement was at greater than 70 percent relative humidity until I plugged it in.
It began removing moisture almost immediately, filling the bucket within the first 24 hours. So far we have been dumping the bucket manually, so we can keep track of the water removed. This unit does have an easily accessible fitting to enable attaching a garden hose directly to the machine.
The only draw back to this unit is that the fan may be considered loud to some people, especially if used in a living space. For us the fan noise is not an issue since it is located in the basement. It cannot be heard from the first floor living space, even when operated on the high fan setting. We appreciate the high air flow (and subsequent noise) from this unit since we need circulation in our basement area. Overall a very good value.

I called Soleus only to be told to replace it or take it to a local service for repair. I did not take the warranty when I purchased it but figured no unit would fail that fast . My old GE lasted 20 years!
I am not happy with the cold response I received .I will research other manufacturers and hope I can find a more reliable one.

Rated an energy star product still takes 700 watts of power to run. Fan runs long and often. Removes moisture slowly. Not a bad product but not energy star worthy i feel.

I purchased the Soleus Air DP1-70-03 Dehumidifier due to a damp basement and family room. Some mold was forming in the corner of my family room ajoining the cement floor. The dampness had discolored the wall paint and was damaging the carpet. After treating the floor and walls in a couple spots removing any mold, I wiped a light mixture of water and bleach to clean the area.
The first night I turned it on CO ( continuous) and it filled the water tank that night. Again the next night it was full again. Now since we have owned it a couple months, we run it a couple times a week when we go to bed and we have not had the dampness problems or any mold issues. My hubby plans to move it by the basement drain and make a continuous connection for water drainage. I won't have to dump the water after that.
It has run well with no problems and I would recommend it to a friend.The ordered and received the Soleus Air Dehumidifier in a timely fashion. The packaging was in good shape and no damage to the carton. It was very easy to unpack. I carried the unit downstairs into my basement so it wasn't that heavy, maybe 40 pounds if that. The directions were clear and it was easy to set up. The manual recommended to start the unit on continuous the first time it is used. It has 3 settings for fan speeds and none seemed that loud. I think for the price it is a great unit for my needs. Easy to carry, set up and move. The basement seems warmer now without the dampness issues.

Takes water out of the air. Does a good job. However, the humidity guide is waaaaayyyy off. It was rated 'inaccurate' by a popular consumer magazine, and they were right. Tough to know how to set the machine. Also, is fairly loud.

I bought this unit about two weeks ago and have been very pleased. It is very user friendly. The collecting bucket has a handle, making it very easy to carry to dump the water. I have it in my basement, so the noise from the fan does not bother me.

shipment arrived ahead of schedule and there were no problems getting started. connected drain hose with no difficulty. does the job, runs quietly. now only time will tell.

I never knew there was so much water in the air. Because of the recent weather conditions I am running it 24/7. Now I know why I was having mold problems in my basement.I empty the tank at least 3 times a day. It works great. Kind of noisy but it does a great job. Easy to empty the tank. And I pour the water on my small lawn. Will see how durable it is.

Great product. Simple, functional, and efficient. Soleus 70 pint dehumidifier. Merchandise arrive ahead of schedule ( that never happened ever from anyone anywhere before) Great and ingenious packing system, no damage, love it!!
