I have tried various humidifiers over the past several years and have always been disappointed. After reading several upbeat reveiws about the Vornado I decided to give it a try. One of the features I was most hoping for was the ability to set/maintain a constant humidity level. The Vornado claimed the ability to adjust humidity between 40%-60% range.
Unfortunately, this is not the case. When I first turned on the unit it reported a room humidity of 65%, 5% above the range that can be set. There are 2 accurate hygrometers in the room that read 41%. I contacted Vornado and was told that the unit's humidity readings can/may/might be off by as much as 50%. This factor of error makes the "set desired humidity" function nearly useless.
I will note, that other than the set humidity function, the unit does perform very well. I can manually maintain my desired level of humidity during the day with no problems. The nights are a different story as I must set the unit to low and hope for the best.
Overall, the Vornado is a good unit. But if you are hoping for the option to set a desired humidity level and have the unit cycle on/off to maintain that level, you will be disappointed.

I'm on my third unit. The first two worked great - best humidifiers I ever had. Until they stopped working, both well within the 30-day warranty period. The first machine suddenly started making a loud, grinding noise. The second flooded my hardwood floors with water, causing permanent damage.
Sylvane has cheerfully and efficiently kept the replacement units coming. However, machine #3 is out of warranty and was only used two days before humidifier season ended. Fingers crossed I'll have a humidifier next season, but if history is any indication, there's little room for optimism in this department. I've probably spent over $200 for less than a week of running this model humidifier -- and now the window for replacement units and refunds is over.
Sigh.

I am very happy with my whole room humidifier. The high speed option does not always carry mist, but the slow speed was not only quiet, but it always produced mist. The humidifier is easy to maintain, clean, and resupply with water.

This has helped my continual sinus condition 100%. I highly recommend it for its accuracy and easy handling. However, you must (and this is not a complaint) keep it clean and follow the directions for a healthy atmosphere.
