While many dehumidifiers claim to be portable, they are often bulky and difficult to move. The Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier was designed with portability and performance in mind. Featuring a carrying handle and easy-roll casters, this lightweight dehumidifier can be moved wherever you need moisture removal. With a 40-pint moisture removal capacity and three humidity-level settings, this Soleus dehumidifier keeps your medium-sized rooms and basements—up to 400 square feet—dry and healthy year round.
Additionally, the Soleus CFM-40E features a streamlined design with an easy-to-read control panel and soft-touch controls, an adjustable airflow louver, and a front-mounted water container. This Soleus home dehumidifier also comes with a washable air filter, automatic overflow protection, continuous drain capability, low-temperature operation, a reliable magnetic float to monitor water-level readings, and much more.
Forget industrial-looking, cumbersome dehumidifiers, the Soleus CFM-40E provides superior water removal in an attractive, streamlined body. With just the touch of a button, it can be set to automatically maintain your relative humidity level at 70%, 60%, or 50%—cycling on and off as needed. If you have an excessively humid basement, bathroom, or other area, there is also a continuous mode that will provide uninterrupted moisture removal regardless of the room’s relative humidity level.
Convenient indicator lights on the control panel illuminate to show the Soleus dehumidifier’s humidity level and help you toggle between quiet, medium, and high power levels. There is also a full tank indicator that illuminates when the CFM-40E’s water tank reaches its capacity. The front-mounted water tank is easy to remove and dispose of collected moisture. A water level window helps you stay on top of your drainage needs.
To ensure that your Soleus Air dehumidifier operates not only effectively but also safely, engineers included several safety features. When the water tank is full, the dehumidifier automatically shuts off to prevent harmful water overflow. Dehumidification will not resume until the water tank is emptied and properly repositioned. As an extra layer of overflow protection, the CFM-40E also includes a magnetic float to monitor water levels. Unlike dehumidifiers that use mechanical floats, this Soleus 40-pint dehumidifier uses a magnetic float that won’t become clogged with mineral deposits that can lead to inaccurate water level readings and potential overflows.
This Soleus basement dehumidifier also features automatic defrost. This is great if you intend to use it in cool basements or during chilly winter months.

We ordered a Soleus Air CFM-40E dehumidifier on line, and it arrived exactly on the date it was promised. It arrived in good condition, and we immediately put it to use in our basement. First of all, we were impressed with the appearance of the unit and simplicity of operation. It is smaller in size than any other dehumidifier we have ever had but does a better more efficient job of removing excess humidity. The handle on top is a nice feature which makes it easy to move the dehumidifier around to different areas of the room. We like the window indicator which shows how much water is in the tank. We then can get an idea of how much water is being taken out of the air and when it is full enough to empty before it turns off.
We cannot believe how quiet it is when running--it sounds as though it is a quiet fan rather than a dehumidifier. With our previous dehumidifier, as soon as we opened the door at the top of the basement stairs, we could hear it running. With the Soleus, we have to walk down to the bottom of the stairs in order to hear it running. We can actually watch tv in the same room as the dehumidifier and are able to hear the tv without a problem. Prior to owning the Soleus, we had to turn our old dehumidifier off in order to watch tv.
If this product continues to perform the way it does now, I would definitely buy another one, and I will recommend it to others.

This unit has a short life and is a poor performer. If the model is still made buy another one, then return the defective unit in the new unit's packaging for a refund or replace and use second unit as a back-up, when the new one you just bought poops out (sooner rather than later?).

Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
CFM-40E works only for one year during summer. works great, but I cannot buy a new unit every year. I have bought 5 of this unit in the past 4 years, and everyone of them stopped collecting water after the first year.

I bought this in 2011 and used it for few weeks, then I kept in the storage, after 21 months I need it, but it look like that the fan is running without collecting any water. so it was west of money.

Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
Dry as a Bone would be good if you were talking about the room you were trying to dehumidify. It's not good if you are talking about the drainage tank. My CFM-40E works like a charm, but doesn't collect ANY water.
It's now just a piece of junk.
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
Used it for 4 months last summer, put it away, and when we took it out again, the compressor failed to function. It's been 13 months since we bought it, so it is not covered under the warranty.
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
The motor runs...but no moisture taken from the air...I've since read other reviews from many folks who have had the same problem...just stops working...
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
works great. very Quiet. only complaint gives off too much heat!
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
Have been using the Soleus Air CFM-40E dehumidifier since it's arrival. Perfect for removing humidity in areas that it is not wanted.
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
The water tank is a little hard to pull out to empty. The tank is hard to empty into a bucket to dump without and handle and it spills over bucket. It is very quiet.
Comments about Soleus Air CFM-40E Dehumidifier:
I purchased this dehumidifier for a basement storage room in Georgia. It is a finished room, but it does have an entrance to a crawl space in it, thereby creating the need for
moisture control. The Soleus has been wonderful! At least once a day, I easily empty a full container of water. The "window" on the side of the machine is easy to read and clearly shows the current level of water collected. water inside. The basement is now free of any unwanted moisture and I would heartily recommend this dehumidifier!
