I wasn't sure if I needed a 45 or 70 pint dehumidifier - I have had both in the past and none of them worked beyond a year or two. This dehumidifier has been great. I was able to get my basement (part of it is full size and the other part has a four-foot ceiling)down to about 40% humidity. The hose hook up works perfectly. At first I wasn't sure I liked the fan being on all of the time, but it does help circulate the air in this semi-large space. It's reasonably quiet compared to the others I have had and at least so far I am very pleased. I guess I'll need to wait until I start it up again next year to see if it will last, but I suspect it will. Even the packaging of this product was much better than others (for example,you didn't need to lift it out of a tall box because the box lifted over the unit!). In other words, it looks like I found a company that thinks of the big and little things which make a product worth owning. Also, I am a quality expert where I work, so I can be quite critical!

We purchased the Soleus Air SG-DEH-45-2 at Sylvane after much research into a dehumidifier to use in our RV. We live full time in a 40' RV an spend most of the time in humid climates. Without some sort of dehumidification the humidity levels can sky rocket into the seventies making mold growth a common problem, especially in the shower area.

I have read many reviews on all different brands of dehumidifiers and the main criteria we had was that it be quiet. When we still lived in a house we had several and they were all noisy. We previously had an LG brand unit in our RV and we had to get rid of it. It drove us crazy. One thing is certain when searching online and that is everyone has their own opinion and they vary greatly for each model you get interested in. So I went to Consumer Reports for a little more information into a good model to buy.

Soleus Air's SG-DEH-45-2 got a 78 out of 100 rating with the highest being an 84 captured by a model from Frigidaire. But that was a 70 pint model which was a little to big for our needs. We only have 400sf and a 45 pint model is more than adequate. Soleus Air is the only manufacture to publish decibel ratings on their units. That is useful information when deciding on something that will be quieter than most other models. Also, this one has three fan speeds, and at the low setting is in the low forty decibel range.

We have been using the unit for a week now through a period of solid 100 percent humidity outside. The unit is quiet, it lowered the humidity 25% in only a few hours after plugging it in, and has been cycling on and off keeping a constant 40-45% humidity level which is the suggested level for optimal comfort.

We are very pleased with this model. It seems to be built well, is easy to empty, has an accurate humidistat as it matches out indoor/outdoor digital readings, is not as ugly as most, and yes it met our criteria of not being a noisy rattle trap that would drive us crazy. Consumer Reports was right! If it lasts a long time then we will be fans of this companies product. Oh, and by the way, Sylvane.com had the best price and free shipping. It arrived a little over a week after being ordered and arrived damage free.

Use product in basement during summer months for high humidity. So far, this product has proven to be very effective. I certainly would recommend it.

I own an old Soleus Air dehumidifier which is very quiet. That is why I bought this one. This one is about 3x louder than my old one (fan and compressor noise). It's on par with the noise from a window A/C unit.

Got this for a cottage where I had an old unit. This is extremely quiet unit. Took the musty smell out in no time. Very efficient, I could see the difference in 1 month on my electric bill.

This purchase was received quickly. The unit is impressive due to the fact it has multiple settings, is much quieter than my older unit and it has been very effective in lowering the damp feeling in my basement. I would recommend this unit and this company to a friend.

Am running the unit for the 1st time and am disappointed at how noisy it is compared with the 35-pint unit I've had for a year or so. But, it has lowered the house humidity by 5 ticks in a short time. LOVE the styling and the ease of rolling the unit around. Maybe it will get quieter with use.

This is excellent choice for a multiuse dehumidifier. 45 pint capacity daily capacity with external garden hose hookup. Humidity indication in 5% increments. Easy and lightweight to carry by handle. Excellent Buy!!!!
