Product Overview

Stay comfortable in hot and cold temperatures with the Soleus Air KC-35H Window Air Conditioner and Heater. This heat pump-equipped room air conditioner offers a variety of features designed to fulfill your comfort needs, including an adjustable thermostat, two cooling and heating speeds, and a fan-only mode. An easy-access air filter also removes airborne particles and other impurities while cooling or heating your room. The KC-35H provides a maximum of 11,600 BTUs of cooling power and a maximum of 10,500 BTUs of heating power to cover spaces sized from 500 to 550 sq. ft.

Heat Pump Technology

This Soleus air conditioner uses heat pump technology to cool or heat your space. Heat pumps work by moving heat instead of creating it. During the summer months, the unit's cool indoor coil absorbs heat from your room and moves it outdoors, leaving behind comfortably cool air in your space. In the wintertime, the heat pump reverses this process. The KC-35H's outdoor coil cools to below the outdoor temperature. The heat pump then absorbs the newly created warmth from the outdoors and moves it inside your space.

The Soleus Air KC-35H unit's heat-transferring process proves to be extremely efficient. For example, at an outdoor temperature of 45 degrees F, the heat pump provides 2.5 watts of heat for every watt of electricity it consumes. As outdoor temperatures drop, however, the heating capacity and efficiency of the heat pump declines. At temperatures below 45 degrees F, ice may form on the outdoor coil. Under these conditions, the KC-35H unit switches automatically from reverse cycle heat pump mode to the backup auxiliary electric heating mode. No defrosting is required in this mode, and there is no minimum operating temperature.

Installation Options

The Soleus Air KC-35H window AC and heater can be installed through an opening in a wall or through a window. Complete installation instructions—and a supply list—for both configurations are included in the Owner's Manual.

For through-the-wall installation, wall opening measurements should be:

• Height: 16 in., plus twice the thickness of wood used to build a frame.
• Width: 22-5/8 in., plus twice the thickness of wood used to build a frame.

For through-window installation, a window kit is provided with the unit. Acceptable window opening measurements are:

• Width: 27 in. minimum to 39 in. maximum for opening
• Height: 16-1/4 in. minimum for opening

Operating Features

The Soleus Air KC-35H includes a variety of control features designed to make operation easy and nearly effortless:

• Adjustable Thermostat – The window AC’s manual thermostat controls allow you to adjust the temperature to your comfort level. The compressor will then cycle on and off to maintain that temperature.
• Two Fan Speeds – The KC-35H includes 2 cooling and 2 heating speeds. The low speeds are best for quieter operation. The high speeds provide maximum cooling or heating power and air circulation to your room.
• Cooling Capacity – The unit provides a maximum of 1,235 cooling watts.
• Heating Capacity – This unit provides a maximum of 1,140 heating watts using the heat pump and 3,500 electric heating watts in backup auxiliary mode.
• Fan-Only Mode – This mode can be used for continuous air circulation.
• Easy-Access Air Filter – Located on the front grille of the unit, this filter helps to remove particles and other airborne irritants from your room air.
• Slide-Out Chassis – Included with the unit to make installation easier and to provide easy access for maintenance tasks.
