The Soleus Air LX-140BL Portable Air Conditioner and Heater is a truly versatile AC that features 4 distinct operating modes—cooling, heating, dehumidifying, and fan-only. Thanks to 3 ample fan speeds, warm or cool air is effortlessly distributed throughout your environment for maximum comfort. One of the most powerful portable ACs around, the Soleus LX-140 also includes multiple user-friendly enhancements such as a multi-color vacuum fluorescent display (VFD), convenient 24-hour programmable timer, and remote control.
The Soleus Air LX-140BL portable AC was developed to effectively and efficiently meet multiple air treatment needs with just 1 device.
This room air conditioner comes with 2 ventilation options. The single-hose option is perfect for quick spot cooling. However, if you desire more thorough cooling or heating of your area, then dual-hose ventilation is a great solution.
Along with these 2 ventilation options, this Soleus AC also uses self-evaporating technology. During the cooling process, excess water is pulled from your indoor air. Air conditioners that use self-evaporative technology recycle this water and use it to the cool the compressor. This helps your portable air conditioner operate more efficiently and saves you the hassle of constantly dumping a water collection tank.

I've had my Soleus LX-140 for about a week now and it is working great! So far the outside temperature hasn't been over 90 degrees, but this thing is blowing out some really cold air!!! My only gripe so far is with the shipping company not being able to find my correct address...but that doesn't have anything to do with Sylvane. Sylvane was very very quick in processing the shipment and the packaging was super sturdy to protect the unit. I had a tough time locating the instruction manual and remote (they were stuffed into one of the tubing pieces) but once I found them I was ready to go!
Installation didn't take more than 15 minutes into my sliding glass window which is 73 inches in height. I did end up purchasing some foam tape to tighten up the gaps between the door and the window kit. I haven't used the other options available (fan/dehumidifier/heat), but so far the cooling is fantastic! I have the unit in my living room which is about 600 sq feet and it connects to the kitchen and there are also two bedrooms located on the same floor. I turned the unit on Max fan speed and set the thermostat to the minimum of 61 degrees and I can immediately feel the difference in the living room.
After about 30 minutes, the circulation reached the kitchen and after about 1 hours time I noticed even the bedrooms cooled down just a bit. I would've been satisfied if this thing only cooled down the living room, but seeing how the benefit is extending to the rest of the home is very nice! I'm going to keep the unit running since it's supposed to heat up next week past the 90's since there were some reviews where people were saying their units were leaking puddles of water on their floor.
Overall, I'd recommend this product to anyone who needs A/C primarily in one or few rooms (that are connected) before they invest in central A/C. A little less than $500 versus a few thousand is a great savings...not to mention the utility bill difference every month too!

The portable a/c can cool the room we got it for. It's a little loud, but most single room units are i guess. The set up was a little challenging. We have it venting out a window and its probably better suited for a sliding glass door. The hoses are bulky and the vents can easily come out of the their slots. Also, the instructions say to remove it from the window when not in operation, which is too much hassle and results in the vents coming out of their slots (we leave it in the window). We've only had it about a month, so we'll see how it performs over time.

Comments about Soleus Air LX-140 Portable Air Conditioner and Heater:
Was purchased last summer for my grandson's attic bedroom where temps had reached the upper 90's. Was installed in the afternoon and had cooled the room to low 80's by that night.Continued to work fine the rest of the summer which was one of the hottest on record here. So for that purpose it was great. However, when my son's family tried to use it as a heater in their living room this fall it was no good. The tank filled with moisture from the air very quickly and was extremely difficult to drain making it impractical to use.

Surprised at how reliable heater is in extreme cold. On other hand the A/C is a little difficult to cool down a room. Maybe works better in a house but in a shed in hot sun the sun usually wins. I think this unit works very well out here in low humidity as I have never had to empty water. I would recommend for anyone in western states. The hose hookups could use some improvement a they are a bit awkward to connect.

Comments about Soleus Air LX-140 Portable Air Conditioner and Heater:
This unit died after only 2 weeks of use. The compressor would not turn on and kept getting an error code. I called the factory and they said it needed to be returned. While running, i noticed that their is no humidistat so you can't really dehumidify. All it does is run the AC on low.Its a little misleading to claim it can run as a dehumidifier.
Returning it is not easy because the packaging is made to be destroyed during the unpacking process.

Needed to cool a furnished vacation rental by the beach. Since the house doesn't have a central HVAC option, my vacation guests could make use of the heater as well. AC cooled the main area perfectly and now the extra heating unit is excellent for one of the bedrooms. Easy to install, move and use. Perfect solution for my cozy coastal retreat.

Do not expect this unit to cool down a large space... However, it is powerful enough to keep my small server room at an acceptable level...

Comments about Soleus Air LX-140 Portable Air Conditioner and Heater:
Overview:
I have used several portable A/C units in the past and this unit is a bit quieter and seems to produce more cold.
Installation:
Setup is of typical difficulty, as always with the portables you must make sure you get the hot air hose positioned so heat gets outside as effectively as possible. If you fail to do this your compressor will constantly turn off due to overheat, you will not get very good performance and the lifespan of the device will be dramatically reduced, if you have a floor drain nearby its a good idea to go ahead and run a hose to it from the drip pan otherwise you may need to empty it on occasion when there is high humidity.
Pros:
its quieter than most (although still loud obviously), had a nice remote with a lcd display that shows all the setting and information, its overall appearance is less of an eyesore than many portables
Cons:
Its will only output air ether straight or down, its impossible to point the vent up, you if you planned to say point it at a ceiling fan forget about it and its difficult to get it to vent out straight. For this reason I do not believe it would cool very well sitting on the floor as all your air would just go into the floor in front of the unit, it sitting on top of some type of elevated surface seems necessary for good circulation
Outer thoughts:
Window units are more efficient and less work than the portable types, the only benefit is the ability to lock your windows when you leave the house, being able to take it from room too room and not having our window blocked on cooler days.
