I live in a dry climate, higher elevation, have no airconditioner as we open the windows at night to cool down the house. This cooler works real nicely during the day in the living room to keep it relatively cool. Not an air-conditioner, but works well for our use. I like the moisture it provides and the ionizer is a plus!
