Mold is a rapidly-growing fungus that can be found, at some level, just about everywhere. Mold levels can become problematic, however, in any area that is regularly dark and damp. It is often hidden within walls, behind furniture, or in other out-of-sight places. And when mold is growing in the home, it is also present in the air. Certain types of mold are considered to be toxic to the environment and require immediate attention. Inhalation of toxic molds can cause extreme sickness and lung disease.
This consumer testing kit is an immediate and comprehensive method of screening your home or other space for the presence of the two most common types of toxic mold - Aspergillus Niger and Stachybotrys. This kit is simple to use and provides top-quality test results.
Testing Procedure
The testing kit will be mailed to you complete with everything needed to complete the test. The FAST Screen Test uses a two-fold approach to detecting toxic mold. First, two testing strips are included which will provide a 5 minute reading detecting the presence of either Aspergillus Niger or Stachybotrys. Once the sample is taken, the testing strip will show either a positive or negative result. If positive, the concentration of the mold found will also display. An immediate plan of action can be taken to protect yourself and your family from this dangerous situation.
The kit also includes a Bio-Scan 400 tape to collect a sample of the mold in your home. This testing strip will be used for more detailed laboratory analysis. Step-by-step instructions included in the kit contain a detailed explanation of how to handle the collection tape and take the sample. Once sampling is complete, the collection tape is then placed in a protective plastic case and mailed to the Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory. A pre-addressed envelope is included in the kit. You can expect to receive results within 7 to 10 business days after the sample is received by the lab.
Expert Results
After the sample is received by the laboratory, it will be analyzed using the very highest quality equipment. A report of findings will then be generated and mailed back for you. These results will identify what types of mold were present in your sample, and at what concentration (cts/cm2). A summary of recommended actions based on your findings will also be included. A toll free number is provided by the lab for any questions you may have about your results.
