The dual-hose Toyotomi TAD-T40LW Portable Air Conditioner provides 14,000 BTUs of localized cooling power to enhance personal comfort in areas up to 500 square feet. This portable AC cools, dehumidifies, and heats, all in one. A self-evaporative condensate system, LCD remote control, and 12 hour on/off timer allow for easy operation.
This Toyotomi model has an excellent self-evaporating system that evaporates most (if not all) condensate, so you won’t have to manually empty a water tank. If the water tank is full, an LED indicator will let you know, and the unit will stop operating.

Comments about Toyotomi TAD-T40LW 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Pump:
We use this in our sunroom which gets afternoon sun. We have EZE-breeze windows which do not provide insulation; however, with the addition of honeycomb shades, this unit held the 78 degrees we asked of it so we could open the whole house for a party. On an ongoing basis, it keeps the room comfortable and we love the quiet operation!

Comments about Toyotomi TAD-T40LW 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Pump:
Its a little loud but what do you expect from something that has to move a lot of air. I have had several of this style AC units at our office and this one works better than all other brands that we have tried. Single hose units do not work as well, get the dual hose. This unit has the highest seer rating and it works well.

Comments about Toyotomi TAD-T40LW 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Pump:
I have two connected large rooms without windows that would hold a typical window AC. The Toyotomi was the answer. The exhaust hose fit easily into the dining room sliding window. I use a fan to move the cold air from the dining room into the living room. The rooms are 480 sq. feet, with 8 foot ceilings, below a ridge vented attic that gets quite hot.
One of the MOST IMPORTANT things to do when assembling the unit, is to pay attention to the large warning on the top of the container! That is, leave the unit upright after you remove it from the boxes for at least 24 hours before turning it on for the first time! Until the unit is delivered to the customer, we have no idea of its position/orientation during shipping. This step is Extremely Important, because any time spent turned on its side allows oil in the compressor to leak past the seals. Since liquids don't compress, this oil on the wrong side of the compressor seals, will blow out the seals and ruin the unit when you turn it on. Sitting upright for 24 hours before turning it on allows the oil time to seep back past the seals. This is also true for refridgerators (I found this out the hard way, sigh!).
The adjustable window kit was easy to assemble, though the hoses were a little short to allow both of them to connect (my sliding window is several feet off the floor). So I left the intake hose unattached to the window for now. There are longer parts and longer hoses to fit odd sizes and shapes available as separate kits, but I was too hot to wait for them to arrive.
It has been a horrendously hot summer here, and I have run the Toyotomi 24 / 7 since I first turned it on three weeks ago. It hasn't missed a beat, and continues to pump out cold air like a champ.
So far I haven't had to empty condensate reservoir as the condensate is dripped over the hot coils and the moist air is then vented out the exhaust hose. However, I don't look forward to emptying it as the drain is only an inchand a half or so from the floor. Less actually because it is on carpet.
Since the entire unit is inside, unlike a window AC unit, it is noisier, but not that much noisier (you ears may be more sensitive than ours of course). And it is a type of white noise (constant) so after a while I have been able to ignore it. Heat, on the other hand, is something I can't ignore while dripping sweat in a hot house. ALL HVAC systems make noise, so it's just a matter of degree.
We are quite happy we purchased this unit, and I have already recommended it to two collegues at work, who have similar non-traditional windows. The shipping was very fast, and the unit was double boxed.
I thought about buying a portable AC unit from one of the "Big Box" home stores, but they wouldn't fit into my car (a mid-size sedan). Also, the big box home stores only sell the less reliable, cheaper brands because they need to keep their profit levels high. Finally, Sylvane delivered to my front porch for free!
Note: this is the size of a small European refridgerator and weighes 88 pounds, so I had to cut the boxes down from around the unit as it was too tall and heavy to lift out. Also, after reading the warning on the top of the box I didn't want to tip the unit over to pull it out.
If you need a portable air conditioner this is a good unit to consider.
