I am very pleased, thus far, with my portable air conditioner. It has a fast response and is wonderfully cool and comfortable on hot days. I recommend this AC for all those who want comfort in a bedroom or studio apartment. I have three friends who have purchased this same unit after they seen mine. It's a winner.

One word - AWESOME!!!
Reviewed by: Meri on 2009-07-24

I live in a top floor condo with a western exposure and lots of windows. We are having unusually HOT weather here in Seattle and it has been miserable. But not anymore now that I have this air conditioner. I hauled it up 3 flights (took a while but I did it) and got it all set up within an hour. I have to say - the instructions surrounding the expandable window unit were a little troublesome but I got it installed - I have both horizontal and vertical opening windows so I can use it ANYWHERE in my home. Once set up, it took 1/2 hour to cool my whole 700sqft place down. My kitty is so happy - she's a long haired person and this was the first night she slept without whining! (Me too!)

With triple digit weather being forcast for this weekend, I'm so very grateful I found this wonderful appliance.
God bless you all for such a terrific product!

Great Product

Thanks for my shipment. I received the unit yesterday afternoon. This morning in about one hour I had everything together and running. The unit has been running for about 3 hours now and I'm cool and comfortable. I am surprised at how much cooling 14,000 btu actually translates to. I am test running it in an area of about 500 sq. ft. it is functioning well. Originally I had purchased it for cooling approx. 300 sq. ft. so I might just purchase another smaller unit. Thanks again for a great product!

Excellent Product

This unit is really great - exceeded my expectations. Though I have central air conditioning, I wanted to cut energy costs by cooling the room in which I spend the most time instead of cooling uninhabited rooms.
The design is sleek and unobtrusive and the hand grip is very convenient for moving the unit. But most importantly, it delivers very satisfactory cooling. I strongly recommend this item. Delivery was amazingly quick - 2 days and it was here.

Amcor A12000EH Works Beautifully
Reviewed by: Ronald on 2008-07-22
I selected this product for a number of reasons including size and appearance, but the main selling point was the "Nano Mist" technology which eliminated the need for emptying a water reservoir. Having past experience dealing with reservoirs, I was looking forward to eliminating this big nuisance.

The unit has exceeded all expectations during these first two weeks of use. I'm not particularly "handy" but found it easy enough to install though the instructions could have been a bit clearer for me. The only minor problem was that the window insert was too short and with extension was too long for my 36" window width without sawing the extension piece to size. I would have preferred to order a separate piece from Amcor but they advised me that they don't have other than the included parts. Without a saw, I had to go to Home Depot to have it cut. Once the installation was completed the unit has operated flawlessly and is visually attractive.

My Amcor 12000 BTU Portable Nanomax Air Conditioner
Reviewed by: Mary on 2008-07-13
I am a single woman who has never had air conditioning in my home before. I always said I could live quite nicely with just fans. I did not want to have to ask someone to lift a heavy air conditioner into my window in the Spring and then take it out in the Fall. Also, I could never figure out how I could have an air conditioner in my sliding windows without major construction problems. This year, we experienced a very early series of ninety degree days and my house heated up like a hotbox. Even though I had fans running in every room, I could not cool off the house. I decided to look into air conditioners but was still hesitant because I didn't want to inconvenience anyone having to install it. I went online and I just happened to click on the portable air conditioners. After looking at a number of them and reading their descriptions, I decided that the Amcor 12000 BTU Portable Nanomax Air Conditioner. It sounded like the best buy for the money and the specifications made it just perfect for me.

I could see that I would be able to install the air conditioner and vent it out my slider windows without any problem. I have now received and installed my air conditioner and it is wonderful. It was so easy to install and in the Fall, it will be so easy to remove and store it away for the Winter. After all the years of saying I didn't need or want air conditioning, I have to say that this is a pleasure.

It is so quiet and efficient that it actually lulls me to sleep the way a fan does. I love the fact that I don't have to endure sticky, wet floors and dampness on hot steamy days. My cat also appreciates a cool house. The Amcor Nanomax Air Conditioner is quite good looking and doesn't take up a lot of space. If I ever have to move it, it will be so easy to do so, although I have managed to find the perfect spot to place it and it vents so easily out my window. It is efficient, quiet, clean and the perfect answer for those who cannot lift heavy equipment.

I am writing about my recent purchase of the AM960 Amcor Nanomax A12000E Portable Air Conditioner. In anticipation of the hot summer months, I made my purchase early. Well, the heat has arrived and I am up and running cool as a cucumber. The installation of the unit was a snap. Everything fit together easily and all I had to do was hook up the exhaust hose from the back of the unit to the window and plug the Air Conditioner in. The instructions were easy to follow and operating the unit is simple. I have a small cape style house and this 12000 BTU unit is enough to cool my first floor adequately. Best of all, I did not lose the light from the window. The exhaust panel is only around 5 inches high and does not block the sunlight from coming in the window. The unit is on wheels and moves about easily, Also the design is nice, it is not bulky and it has clean smooth lines. I am able to point it in the direction of the room I want to be the coolest. I do not have tons of storage space in my house, so this air conditioner is perfect because it is not big at all. It easily fits in my back hall closet for storage during the winter months, I am very happy with my purchase and the customer service at Sylvane. When I placed my order I spoke to Wes and he was very pleasant and helpful during my phone call. I would highly recommend the AM960 Amcor Nanomax A12000E Portable Air Conditioner, especially to anyone who can’t lift heavy window units.

Amcor Nanomax A12000EH

We bought a three story 1918 built home and moved into it in May of 2008. The third floor is finished beautifully, but only one duct is run to this floor and by the time heat or AC gets there it is a trickle anyway. The temp gets into the high 80's. Our daughter wanted to make her room on the third floor, but it was way too hot, and we assume it will be just as cold as it is hot in the winter time. I searched the net for a portable room AC unit because the windows that were put in are casement type and not double hung. I settled on the Amcor Nonomax A12000EH because a heating/cooling friend of mine suggested it and because there was NO emptying of water every day. Comparison of price of other units made this a very easy choice.

The unit shipped to our house and I took it upstairs for installation. It took minutes to install and the cooling began. The temp dropped from 85 to 77 in about 8 minutes. She can direct air flow, move the unit from side to side, and even operate the unit from the remote control. We will use it for heat in the winter. Our daughter is only 13, but I made her read the instructions so she would know the operations of the unit as opposed to just turning it off and on. She has no problems.

We have had the unit a month and are very pleased with it's overall operation. I would recommend it to anyone. Cal Ernst

It is everything I expected

It is EVERYTHING I expected! My husband & I purchased the Nanomax A12000EH for use in our 400sf bonus room. We live in South Carolina and have 90-100 degree days that would cause the bonus room to feel like an oven. This unit can cool the room from oven temperatures to comfort zone in less than an hour. With such cooling effectiveness, we are able to only use when we plan to be upstairs vs. running continuously. It was very easy to install, is fairly quiet and maintenance free. The quality of the motor and fan have worked well. It should be noted that I waited 2 1/2 weeks after receiving this product before writing my review because I wanted to make sure my first impression was still good 2 weeks later. We researched many brands and models, before making a decision and we have not been disappointed. The Auto Drain technology is a MUST and the price was reasonable. I have tested the heater and it works, but have not had any cold weather to determine its effectiveness. The remote is a "nice to have", and works properly, but was not an important selling feature for me. I consider myself to be an informed consumer, and would recommend this product to others like myself.

I live in 100-year old duplex in the St. Louis area. It gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. I initially purchased the A12000E Amcor Nanomax because I had heard so many good things about it and my landlord wouldn't allow a window unit air conditioner in the front of the building. My original order was on backorder so ... upgraded me to the A12000EH for no additional charge. I have window units in the rest of the apartment but since my huge bedroom is in front I needed a separate unit since I work from home. Not only was the installation a breeze (I'm a 49-year old thin woman) but it really works. Also, the insulation is so poor in my room that I have plastic plus blankets on the windows in the winter and still couldn't get the room above 55 degrees. Now I have the pleasure of a room heater, as well! My son lives upstairs and likes it cold so he's happy with his window unit and heat rises... so he's fine all year round. Yes, it cost more than my window units but it's definitely worth the price!

Amcor AF12000E Portable AC Unit

Am going into my second season with this gem. As claimed, it is easy to set up, take down and store. I use it in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it never required manual draining last summer - and that was the hottest and most humid Tulsa summer in at least the past decade.

The only aspect that diminishes this unit: the sound level is a bit annoying during waking hours - but at the same time, it provides good white noise for sleeping. The room space is about 300 sq feet and the unit was able to provide Eskimo comfort all last summer. Also, in order to get a straight shot to my window for the vent, I placed the unit on top of construction bricks (covered with decorative fabric, of course...) - this was an easy and inexpensive solution.

My main reason for purchasing this unit is to lower my energy costs and still be comfortable during the summer heat. Before the end of this summer, this unit will have paid for itself totally and the rest is gravy!

This is a portable a/c,cannot be compared to an ac system or window unit. For a portable a/c this one has a high build quality and does an excellent job on one room at a time. The a/c has a high fan throw and is easy to install. because of the power of the fan, plan on the maximum decibels, even on the low speed is louder than I would wish for, But you don't get performance without cost. I sit as far from unit as I can,and have no regret of my purchase

I received this product a few days ago, just in time for the heat wave we had in California. It was great timing to put this unit to the test. I am attempting to cool a large area in my house that is larger than the recommended 400 sq ft. It did a good job at cooling the general area and performed according to recommendations. I added a fan in from of the unit that allows me to blow the cool air further across the room with great results. I'd recommend this unit to anyone. regarding Sylvane's sales process/support, they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in providing answers to my questions. I also found that they have great customer care and a no restocking fee policy which is better than that of some of the other competitors. I'm considering ordering a second unit for upstairs and will purchase from Sylvane again.

A/C works better than the heater function. The heater function is ok for supplemental heat. Overall, unit did not perform as anticipated in my space, approx. 250 sq/ft) when unit was rated for 400 sq/ft. However, to be fair I was using in a sunroom with many windows. I believe unit would work ok in a more enclosed space.

CALL AND FINALLY TALKED TO THE OPERATOR AFTER LEAVING MESSAGES AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPPING TO REPLACE. SHOULD HAVE TRIED OUT BEFORE THE 30 DAYS, WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE AT HALF PRICE. IF YOU KNOW THE PRINCIPALS OF AIR CONDITIONING IT REALLY DOES NOT MAKE SENSE IF YOU ARE BLOWING HOT AIR OUT OF THE ROOM WHERE DOES THE AIR COME FROM THAT IS BEING CONDITIONED, YOUR IN A VACUUM.
