I had searched the internet for a portable A/C unit that would cool a 17 X 20 room in my upstairs (340 sq. ft. So many of the units that I reviewed didn't seem to fit my needs. Then I saw Sylvane's website and looked at the units that were available. I decided to purchased the Amcor PLM 14000 E unit because it was 14000 BTU's and would cool a space up to 400 sq. ft.

I am delighted that this unit arrived in three days and has worked great since I installed it. The installation instructions for the window vent were easy to follow and I would recommend this product to everyone.

I purchased the Amcor 14000-E unit for my 89-year-old father, who had sworn he didn't need an air conditioner, but whose home often reaches the high 90s on the hottest days of the summer. He had balked at installing a swamp cooler or anything permanent that involved cutting a hole in the house(which he built himself 58 years ago), or even a window-mounted air conditioning unit--none of his windows were the right size or type. Meanwhile, my dad's caregivers were sweating away and hoping we could come up with some solution that wouldn't get him too upset.

I searched the internet, and discovered that portable air conditioners were a definite possibility--but would one be powerful enough to cool down such a hot house? After reading many reviews and searching many websites, I decided on the 14000 BTU unit from Amcor, and chose to purchase it from Sylvane because of their excellent customer service when I called with questions.

We are very happy! The unit arrived in record time, and it was not difficult to install (even with casement windows--we just replaced one of the glass panes at the bottom with a piece of plywood and cut a hole for the vent hose). The caregivers report that it is working well; it cools things down fairly quickly when they come to work there. My dad didn't like the blue light glowing all the time (he is so frugal that I think he imagined that it was using unnecessary electricity!); thankfully, there is a way to turn the light off.

A few weeks ago, I purchased the Amcor PLM14000-E Plasma Series Portable Air Conditioner. I was very impressed by the care taken in the delivery of my product. Not only did the PLM14000 arrive in mint condition but also constant email alerts kept me right on top of where my product was and when it would arrive at my site. The unit was double boxed for protection and unpacking instructions clearly marked which definitely helped in the un-boxing process.

Once I received the PLM14000 it was easy to assemble and I was enjoying cool air within 20 minutes. The quick setup instructions made assembly a breeze and the online videos where helpful to get a sense of the product even before I ordered. Having the online video is a feature that not many manufacturers have; you can find manuals online, but usually not videos. I was very impressed by the design of the unit not to mention the high capacity of the blower system used. While this system is only rated to cool an area of 400sq feet I have personally found that I’ve been able to cool an area around 800sq feet with no issue. This unit quickly and efficiently removes the humidity out of the air, which is 80% of the battle when trying to cool a location.

I would recommend this product to others and suggest to be sure to use it in conjunction with ceiling fans for the maximum effectiveness. The folks at Amcor have really hit a home run and done their work to make sure they have given us a product that works very well and efficiently. Thanks Amcor!

My experience with this unit is mostly positive. First let me say that Doug Z. in sales was great. He spoke to me at length about the different options for products to solve my cooling problem and was very knowledgeable. I ordered this unit to cool an attic bedroom area of about 350 square feet with limited window access so I could not use a window air conditioning unit. One side of the room receives direct afternoon sunlight so it gets very warm. I have only started using the unit the past couple days. One of the castors was broken when I went to unpack so I could not set the unit upright. Customer Service quickly handled the issue and had another castor sent. The set-up is extremely easy. I had to cut the window bar to fit but that was easily done with a hacksaw. I was wondering about the intense blue light that glows from the LCD screen and was pleasantly surprised to read that it could be easily turned off. I turned on the unit in the heat of the afternoon and it took about an hour to begin feeling a temperature difference. By the time I went to bed, the room was very cool and I turned off the unit to sleep because it was cold enough. The unit may actually cool faster in a different room situation.

My only complaint is the noise level of the unit. I realize that all portable air conditioners as well as window air conditioners are noisy. I have yet to try sleeping with the unit at full blast.

I am happy to have a unit that cools and is easily rolled into a closet when not in use. I am a single woman and cannot deal with the set up and removal of a large window air conditioner.
