Ahh, sweet humidity

Houston, we have humidity.
I live in Michigan and usually need to start running a humidifier from October to April. After two failed attempts at humidifying my home via a furnace humidifier and room humidifiers, I finally have found success with this console humidifier. My high efficiency furnace seems to consume any water vapor introduced into it. The drip type humidifier originally on it didn't budge my hygrometer a bit. I tried a drum type humidifier with similar results. A couple of room humidifiers were ok, but they were running constantly and usually falling behind.
The Bemis/Essick Air 3-Speed Console Style Humidifier Model H12-300 isn't the prettiest thing, but the functionality is great. Note that the product information says it has a tank capacity of 5 gallons. The actual bottle holds only 2.5 gallons, so I have to assume that the reservoir holds the other 2.5 gallons. Filling the bottle is a little bit clumsy at first, but you'll get the hang of it. This model runs about 5-15 minutes an hour. I am targeting 30-35% humidity, the outside temp is in the 20s and my house is 2300 square feet. I have the fan speed setting in the middle. It's somewhat load at that setting, but it works quickly there. Setting up the humidifier was very easy. Just make sure that the float assembly is lined up properly so it will work and make sure you hear the glug, glug of water coming out of the bottle when you put it in the console, because you can misalign it.
My nasal passages are feeling much better.
