We are very happy with our portable air conditioner. The air conditioner cools our entire room. The operation is easy and it is quiet and efficient.

We have a bonus room above our garage that is used as a bedroom for two of our children. It is typically warmer up there in the hot months, and with record temperatures this year, we knew it was time to get a supplemental A/C unit. Our home is a newer home built in a classic style and I wasn’t too thrilled about the idea of an unsightly window unit sticking out in a prominent place. After researching options online, I came upon the Delonghi brand of portable air conditioners and particularly the PAC A120E model.

Some of my research indicated that portable units were not the best performers at cooling an entire room. I was a little apprehensive of this, especially given the price premium over typical window units, but felt that Delonghi was a trusted brand and the 12,000 BTU rating of the A120E would be enough for the need. I took the plunge, ordered one, and received it just a few days later. The setup and connection to the outside window was as easy as opening and closing the window on the included window bracket, attaching the hose to the unit, and plugging it in. I didn’t even have to remove the window screen. I purchased some inexpensive foam strips to help seal the window bracket. From the outside, you can hardly tell that anything is different.

We have been so pleased with this unit! We keep the fan speed on the lowest setting and it does a great job cooling the room. I have monitored to see if any moisture drips or collects around the unit, but it has stayed completely dry. All of the moisture is sent out the hose through the window and vaporized. The children typically use the “sleep function” at night, which maintains the temperature and humidity while keeping the fan speed low. It gradually shuts down over the course of the night so it doesn’t disturb their sleep.

It has literally been a turnkey appliance that has met the need admirably well. I would highly recommend it as a supplemental unit for rooms like ours that require extra cooling.
