The Great Humidifier

I do not do this for everyone. There is no company around that is worthy of such a review.

If the special customer is looking for a special hot steam humidifier and doesn't know where to go because it can be a confusing subject, then I would suggest you go right here where you will always be satisfied with the merchandise and should you get stuck, they have wonderful people standing by as support.

Months of Research

I did my homework on humidifiers, as this would be the first upscale humidifier we would purchase. Warm mist, cool mist, and the various filtering options. Since we do not have children, the warm mist was our choice because of the cleansing of the boiling of water. The UV filtering is a great extra step that ensures the purest water is misted.

The build quality of this unit is very good, and the electronics was better than we expected. You can control the humidity level in 5% increments (very nice as it auto-shuts off). It also automatically shuts off if it runs out of water (great feature if you use it every night and 24 hours). In addition, it always shows the humidity level while plugged in - even if the unit is turned off.

If I had to say anything negative, it would be the cleaning procedures. This is not specific to this humidifier, as all upscale humidifiers requires a significant investment in bi-monthly cleaning sessions. So, it is nothing to hold against this particular product. But, it is a routine to be aware of, and required if you want to keep any upscale humidifier in long lasting condition.

Also note that the display has an extremely bright background of a light blue color. While some might like it as a night light (my wife), others find it a bit annoying (such as myself). If Sylvane could make the backlight adjustable (1 or 2 dim options, plus a shut off), it would go a long way in making this unit perfect. The backlight can be turned off because it is not on when the unit is turned off, but yet the LCD readout still works (to show the humidity level). Thought about taking it apart and snipping that backlight wire myself!

All in all, we are extremely happy in finally investing into a really good humidifier.

I researched to find the best rated warm mist humidifier before I made my purchase. I am so disappointed that I bought this one. The display malfunctioned after just a few months of use. It was replaced by a second one. This one didn't work correctly either. Now I'm on my third one and the motor sounds like an airplane taking off.

Not So Hot

The unit is noisy. The unit is tempermental. Lift the water reservoir off the base one time without unplugging and your humidifier is dead. When it works, it does not emit enough moisture to be of any use to anyone who really needs it. Overnight, the entire resrevoir was diminished by less than 1/4 at 'HI' capacity. Very expensive, very disappointing.
