This is the second home for which I've purchased this unit. The other home was a converted barn which still had some residual odor and moisture in the basement -- not a good combination. From day one, this unit removed all the problems and kept the basement (which used to be stables) bone dry and odor-free. We actually ran a business out of the basement for eight years. We sold that house (left the unit with the new owners) and bought a new unit for our home (with a finished basement) on the ocean. On foggy days, the basement would be very damp. But not any more. It's dry as a bone. The unit is well designed, not obtrusive, and the internal pump is perfect -- we drilled a hole in the wood of the casement window and all water exits into the sand.

I purchased this to replace 2 cheaper ones we had running in our house. It has done a much better job than the ones we previously had and is much quieter, as well.

I bought this unit for my living room as I have too much humidity in my house. I have a mildewy smell and in the winter there is moisture and some sort of marks on my glass on the inside.Dehumidifier dries up the air and I don't have the water forming on my glass anymore. I didn't give it 5 stars as it is not whisper quiet, I can still hear it running. It sounds kind of like a fan.
