You just can't beat Vornado for quality and longevity. We have had our regular Vornado stand fan for over 11 years now, and it is still going! We use it in the bedroom to draw cooler night air from outside all summer long.

We purchased the 660 to use in the bedroom now, and moved the stand fan to office for the treadmill.

The 660 is really quiet on the 2 lower settings, which is great while your sleeping. It keeps the air circulating with a nice gentle breeze.
On the higher setting it really moves the air quickly, and cools down the room fast. (We have vaulted ceilings)

Even though the summer is almost over, we are thinking of buying another 660 from Sylvane for the living-room. That way we don't have to keep moving this one. And it will work great for circulating the heat from our wood stove during the winter.

First time buying from Sylvane, they shipped fast and have great prices, what more could you ask for!

Purchased this product this weekend from Fry's locally, and I have been amazed at the powerful, quiet operation and build quality of the product. The piano black finish and chrome "slide" is a nice touch, and the four-speed operation ranges from "is this thing on?" quiet to "Wow, I can't believe I can feel it across the room!" powerful (without being very noisy!).

We debated between this and the stand version, but opted for the table-top 660 because of the stable base (the stand version has a propensity to topple!), and the good looks!

We loved the purchase so much we went back to fry's to buy another, and they were sold out! So, Sylvane.com's price with free shipping was the best on the Internet.

1. When the fan speed is set on 1 or 2, the noise is almost zero...

2. When the fan speed is set on 3, I noticed my ceiling fan start to rotate! Its is very powerful!

We have always used 3-Speed 16" Metal Floor Fans in our bedroom (The kind you get from Lakewood, Polar-Aire, or Lasko). We use it for noise, cool breeze and ventilation. They are perfect because they are powerful, don't take-up much room, sturdy, easy to move around and they aren't much of an eyesore.

Lately we have been having problems with them cutting-out sporadically. It would just stop at 2 or 3 O'clock in the morning and start back up an hour or two (or three) later. Finally, the both just quit (our backup too).

I've wanted to try the Vornado since its inception; however, I wasn't going to risk a couple night's sleep testing fans. I immediately ran to the hardware store and picked-up the trusty ole Polar Aire 16" Floor Fan. Then, I got on line and ordered the Vornado 660.

We were pleased, as usual with the Floor Fan; but, when the Vornado came we eagerly replaced the 16" Fan with the little Vornado to see how the little fella matched-up. We were pleasantly surprised.

Not only did the Vornado match or surpass the power of the much bigger Floor Fan, it was quieter, smaller, looks nicer, and it very sturdy. Needless to say, we are very happy with the Vornado and we are using it for our primary fan.

The circulator was bought for the bedroom. While it is a nice fan which can move large amounts of air, we found the lowest speed did not move enough air. The 3 higher speeds made too much wind noise to sleep comfortably. Unfortunately Vornado no longer makes an infinitely adjustable speed control that would most likely have allowed us to keep the fan. Nor does any other fan company that we can find. Vornado states the cost of the control was deemed too high to offer in any of the fans. The fans are no longer made in the U.S. I emailed Vornado about plugging the fan into a variable speed control switch. They replied that the fans are not made for that accessory. Hopefully, Vornado will return the variable control in the future as well as the making of the fan in the U.S.

It looks great and works great. Keep my study room cool.
It's quite and I use the last two fan speed setting while working and it does not bother me at all. Will buy another one or two in the future.. of course will get it from Sylvane since they have great price compared to other online stores.
