A new addition to Vornado’s portable heater line, the iControl Digital Vortex Heater combines the company’s signature Vortex airflow technology with an easy-to-control, one-knob interface. Using Vortex Technology, the Vornado iControl Heater creates a tornado-like beam of air that projects across a room until it reaches a barrier. After it hits the barrier, the air returns across the perimeter of the room to be re-circulated again and again. Vortex Technology has been proven to provide more efficient, reliable, and comfortable heat circulation throughout an entire room.
Controlling this Vornado heater is easy. By simply turning the knob on the top of the unit, you can scroll through a range of heater settings including timer functions, heating modes, automatic climate control, and temperature settings. A simple push of the knob puts your selected settings into action. Your selections are displayed clearly on a large LCD screen. Alternatively, you can use the iControl heater’s convenient wireless remote to control heater functions from a distance.
For safety, the iControl portable heater is equipped with an automatic safety shutoff system that cuts power to the unit’s heating element if it is accidentally tipped over or if overheating conditions occur. In addition, this Vornado heater features durable, cool-to-the-touch construction; a wide, stable base; and tight front-grille spirals that greatly reduce the risk of common heater-related injuries. A handle opening on the back of the unit simplifies the unit’s portability. Complete features of the Vornado iControl Digital Vortex Heater include:
- Non-Glowing Heating Element – This heater’s non-glowing, thermostatically controlled heating element is safer and longer lasting.
- One-Knob Operation – One easy-to-control knob lets you scroll through and select your desired heater settings.
- Wireless Remote Control – No longer will you have to get up to adjust the heater’s settings. This RF (radio frequency) remote allows you to conveniently adjust settings from a distance.
- Automatic Climate Control – The unit’s circulator fan speeds up and slow down to maintain the desired room temperature instead of cycling on and off, which can produce uncomfortable hot-and-cold temperature pockets.
- Three Operating Modes – Choose from low heat, high heat, and fan-only settings. The fan-only setting is perfect for summertime use.
- Safety Shutoff System – In the event that the heater’s air inlet or grille outlet is blocked, this system automatically cuts power to the heating element to prevent overheating. The system will also cut power if the heater is tipped over.
- LCD Display Screen – Illuminates for easy visibility when setting adjustments are made.
- Power Indicator Light – This large, illuminated light reminds you that the heater is on.
- Adjustment Alert – A “beep” sound indicates when heating, temperature, and timer settings are changed.
- Timer – Use the timer to program the heater’s operation in 1-hour intervals up to 9 hours.
- Safer Body Design – This Vornado space heater features a wide base to maximize stability and durable metal and plastic construction that remains cool to the touch.
- Tight Grille Spirals – Spiral features on the heater’s front grille resist even the smallest curious fingers.

I have used this "Vornado" in my trailer at my hunt club I am a member of. I must admit I was a little skeptical based on the size and how quiet it was so I turned it on and returned an hour later. It was 30 degrees outside and I set the Vornado on 70 degrees. When I returned (to my surprise) the trailer was comfortable and quiet. I didn't anticape the level of comfort from such a small and quiet machine. I LOVE IT.

I used it in my computer room and the results were amazing. I had it set for 70 degrees, but had to turn it down because the room became to warm. I tried it in other larger rooms and the results were the same. Hard to believe that such a small heater could deliver such gratifying results. I would definitely recommend this heater to anyone.

LOVE this product!!! Heats a large room, is compact in size, quiet, never hot to the touch, automatically shuts off if tipped over. VERY safe for children, the elderly and pets. I opted for the digital version and also have a remote. The remote is wonderful and I can set the temperature, fan setting and amount of time for the unit to run while laying in bed or sitting in the living room when the Vornado is in my dining room! Can't say enough good things about this heater. Buy one :) You'll never regret it.

Vornado's i-Control digital vortex portable heater is an excellent product. It effectively heats a room of 550 square feet in about two hours from 55 degrees to 68 degrees. It then maintains that level of heat at a lower level of energy usage. Based on 200 hours of use, it appears the unit costs about 65 cents per day (@$.085 per kilowatt hour)for 12 hours of use to maintain the room temperature described. The unit is extremely quiet. It does not have that burst of hot air one obtains from a fan-forced heater. However, it does distribute warm air effectively. The remote control is very useful, eliminating the need to bend over each time you want to turn the unit on or off, or to set different warming temperatures. We do carefully remember to turn the unit off and unplug it for overnight, a recommended procedure for safety. Overall, the unit is functioning flawlessly to date. For inquiring minds who want to know, yes, it is made in China!

The heater is exactly as described, and it worked well this fall on an enclosed porch, which we do not use in the winter so I cannot comment on how it heats a room when the temperature is below 50 degrees. On balance, I am very satisfied.

Just bought the Vornado iControl for use in my recently finished basement. We've had the chance to use the heater a few times this week and it works great to warm up a room approximately 15 X 30. The heater is very small, quiet, and cool to the touch. The remote works as expected and without issue.
Other reviews have mentioned that the thermostat isn't highly accurate but I would argue isn't really relevant. I simply turn the heater on and set the temp to something above whatever the temperature in the room is. It runs until the room warms up. We are only using the heater when we are in the basement and it heats up so quick there is no reason to let it run all the time.
If you have a room that isn't well heated by your main heating source or you have a wife who is constantly cold like I do this is a great product.

I love this heater. Silent running fan and great heating performance. It does about as good if not a better job of heating than my high priced $400.00 model and it is much quieter.
Don't let the size fool you. This heater is compact but packs a punch.
when it arrived, it did not work at first. This was because of the excellent safety features that shut it down when it is bumped or rattled as it more than likely was when shipped. I just reset it by un-plugging for 15 minutes and its worked like a charm since.

My wife and I have been looking for sometime for a portable heater that could supplement our gas baseboard hot water heating system. Our system must heat the whole house, so we have been cutting our thermostat back and only need to heat two primary rooms we use. The Vornado Touchstone Heater seems to be the answer.
We have tried small, "bargain" heaters. We also tried a more expensive electric fireplace heater, which was suppossed to heat an entire room. This Vornado heater does a better job. It is quiet and seems to heat the room, not just objects. It is not hot to the touch, which is important since we have young grandchildren. Within ten minutes, it seems to knock the chill off a room. It is not heavy and can be easily moved. We highly recommend it!
