Three Stages of Air Filtration

Formerly known as the Whirlpool Whispure AP45030S, this Whirlpool air purifier features three stages of filtration: a permanent pre-filter, a carbon filter, and a true HEPA filter. During operation, air initially moves through the 450's permanent pre-filter, which doubles as the air purifier's front cover. This washable plastic filter helps to catch large particles before they reach the carbon and HEPA filters. This in turn, helps boost the efficiency of the carbon and HEPA filters.

After moving through the permanent pre-filter, air then passes through a carbon filter, which helps absorb and neutralize irritating odors, such as cigarette smoke, chemical scents, and cooking odors. Finally, air moves through a true HEPA filter, where 99.97% of allergen particles sized 0.3 microns and larger are removed. These particles include mold spores, pollen, pet dander, ragweed, dust mites, dust particles and any other impurities that may be lingering in your indoor air.

This three-stage filtration system helps the Whirlpool Whispure AP45030K achieve exceptionally high CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) measurements for dust, smoke, and pollen. CADR ratings tell you how much of a specific pollutant an air purifier can remove in cubic feet per minute. As a rule of thumb, remember that the closer the number to the maximum CADR measurement, the more effective the air cleaner. The 450 maintains some of the highest CADR ratings in the industry.

Easy-To-Use Controls

To help simplify operation, the Whirlpool 450 features a manual control panel equipped with a rotary dial that allows you to adjust purification speeds. Choose from three fan speeds—low, medium, and high—depending on how quickly you want to purify your room air. The control panel also includes two filter indicator lights that illuminate to let you know when it's time to replace the carbon and HEPA filters.
