Effective Air Filtration
The Whirlpool Whispure APT40010R Air Purifier offers two levels of protection against allergy-exacerbating impurities. As the first level of defense, the air purifier uses an odor-absorbing pre-filter. Located behind the rear grille, the charcoal pre-filter traps large particles and removes foul smells and cigarette odors from the air. Designed to preserve the life of the HEPA filter, the charcoal filter also reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs), gases, and fumes.
In addition to controlling household odors, this HEPA air purifier also features true HEPA filtration. During operation, the Whirlpool Whispure APT40010R HEPA Air Purifier processes the air in your space nearly five times an hour. As air passes through the back of the air purifier, the HEPA filter captures 99.97% of microscopic particles such as mold spores, dust, pollen, and pet dander. Once these impurities are trapped inside the filter material, the purifier releases fresh, clean air throughout the room.

So far the filter seems to be working at designed. the auto feature was the main reason for going with this unit, which works well. there is a very spooky wind type of noise when on low, which is the only down side we have experienced so far. it took about 3 days for our 9 year to get over that noise.

The unit fits nicely in my office and is very quiet. Most of my coworkers have not even noticed it. I have noticed that my allergy related symptoms have decreased. The only thing that I have not liked is the automatic shut down mode. While this is good for reducing energy consumption, I want it to run at night so the air is clean when I get to work in the morning. The good thing is that you can override it and my problem was solved. Overall it is a very good product and I highly recommend it.
