After having a Portable DeLonghi AC for 17 years I had to replace it and decided to try the Whynter products. I love this product and it is excellent at cooling, but one main downfall...it doesn't have the ability to select "low noise"...a much needed feature if one uses it for offices and rooms where you need quiet. Otherwise an efficient machine.

This portable is colder than my 15000 BTU window and my other 12000 btu portable. I wish the louvers could go up and down, more a preference than something that affects performance. It's been doing an incredible job in the bedroom for the past month of oddly warm weather.

I bought this as part of my hurricane package of generator and generator panel. My generator will run my entire house with the exception of my 2 big central a/c units. But I figured I could run this portable with the generator and keep our bedroom cool when the juice fails after a 'cane. No hurricane - so far - but my big number one central unit died this past week. Just for grins, I plugged this wee beastie in and, believe it or not, it has managed to keep almost 3000 sq feet of living space at 79 degrees in Florida in August. I am amazed! Without the unit, the house goes to 84 degrees. One of my best purchases!

No down side to this either. Yeah it has some inherent wind noise factor, but I do not find it very loud or annoying in the least - especially since I am comfortable until the a/c guy gets here with the new parts for the big unit.

If there were 6 stars, I would give it that.
