Cool your bedroom, home office, garage, or workshop with the Whynter Sno 13,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner. The portable air conditioner cools up to 420 square feet and includes a window venting kit with a 5-foot exhaust hose. Self-evaporating technology, eco-friendly operation, and compact design make this portable air conditioner an excellent solution for energy-efficient cooling. Available in Platinum (Whynter ARC-13S) and Frost White (Whynter ARC-13W), the Whynter 13,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioners provide the same powerful cooling as a central AC system without the expensive installation.
With three independent operating modes, the Whynter ARC-13S Portable Air Conditioner gives you more bang for your buck. In addition to providing 13,000 BTUs of cooling as a portable air conditioner, this air cooler also functions as a fan and a dehumidifier.
When used to cool, the portable air conditioner exhausts hot air out of a room window through an exhaust hose and the window venting kit. In dehumidifier mode, the Whynter 13,000-BTU Portable AC removes up to 43 pints of excess water per day. Additionally, this portable air conditioner allows you to set and program two functions for subsequent operation using the remote control and timer.
The Whynter 13,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioners feature easy portability and intelligent, ergonomic design. Built-in front casters and large back wheels make it easy to move the unit from place to place. In addition, a convenient handle and a retractable pull cord allow you to lift and pull the portable AC with ease. The Whynter ARC-13W Portable Air Conditioner has enough style to place on a countertop and compact enough to store behind a sofa or in a corner.

We purchased this unit to use on our 42 foot houseboat and boy does it deliver! Sylvane was wonderful to deal with and the unit is amazing. After days of research on-line, I called to order it and to ask a few questions...they had the best price on the net. The customer service representative even gave me a coupon code to save some money off the purchase. I think the shipping was free too...and they sent it directly to the marina.
Set up was a breeze and when I contacted Sylvane because some of the plastic accessory parts got broken in shipment, they immediately contacted the manufacturer who then contacted me to send me the new parts....this is one "sounds too good to be true.." story that actually happened and turned out to be true! The unit is quiet, powerful, looks great and fits in small spaces...perfect for our boat! Thank you, Sylvane...you have earned a loyal customer!

I hate to give this air conditioner such a bad review, because it cools well. But the drainage problem is so severe that I can't recommend it. When I first got it, it ran for about 20 minutes then shut off. I called the manufacturer and was told to remove the drain plug to empty water that may have been left in the unit when they tested it at the factory. Sure enough, about 18 ounces of water came out, and the unit switched back on. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it - every twenty minutes to a half hour, it required draining to operate. I contacted Whynter again and was told I would need to install tubing so the unit could continuously drain.
Since the drain is right at the bottom of the unit, I had to put it on a platform so gravity could help drain it. This, of course, defeats the purpose of the low design. I'm very surprised other reviewers haven't had this problem. I live in New York City which can get humid in July and August, but this problem occurred on relatively dry days in June, when none of my window air conditioners have been dripping at all.

Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
Purchased this item based on Sylvane sales rep. recommendation. My husband described our needs in detail including square footage, western exposure, room layout, etc. Rep. said this is the one you need. Husband said are you sure? She basically said I know what I'm talking about, this is my business, etc. We ordered the product and found that it cooled less than half the intended space and never got below 77 degrees. Took over an hour to repack correctly.

Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
Got this for my office at work. Being in IT, there are several computers, 5 monitors and a laptop in a fairly small space (about 8x8 feet). The office can go from 0 to 80 degrees in no time. This unit cools it off quick, everyone who stops in loves it, it just blasts cold air. (I think people come to my office just to cool down, the boss keeps the rest of the floor at about 76 degrees).
With the timer I can set it to turn on an 1/2 hour before I get there and off 1/2 hour after I leave.
The noise level is ok, it's a lot quieter than a larger, but 1/2 as powerful unit it replaced, so I'm liking that. You can almost not even tell when the compressor kicks on. The fan can also adjust it's speed automatically depending on the cooling required.
I am sure this unit would have no problem with larger rooms. It keeps the office at a nice 68 degrees with no effort at all.

Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
I'm using this product to cool a small bedroom in my 100-year-old house. I have elderly cats, and I'm pretty elderly myself -- so when the humidity is about 75% and the temp is over 90 degrees -- this is doing the trick. I like that when the weather is cooler I can still open my bedroom window without having to disassemble the exhaust hose.
Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
Delivery was fast and the unit arrived in perfect condition. Thank you Sylvane for sending it by UPS Freight instead of regular UPS! The unit works well, is well built and very quiet. I love the design and small footprint.
I'm ordering a second unit as soon as I finish this review.
Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
It doesnt cool a 200sqft area very well and also one of the main reasons i bought this unit because it was suppose to be self draining and you didnt have to pail buckets of water out. That is not the case with this unit, after a few days of running it will just shut off and not do anything. You then have to unhook it, take it outside and turn it on its side to drain all the water out so it will start running again. SUCKS i thought i made the right choice with this but i was wrong.I guess i should have just cut a hole in my wall and put a window unit so i don't have to deal with this water and could have saved a lot of $
Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
Living in Vermont, we were always told that we didn't need air conditioning; don't believe it, you do. We decided to go with a portable AC so we could share it between 2 rooms. Sylvane was dream to work with: the product arrived promptly and when one of the plastic components arrived broken, they cleared up the issue immediately.
The AC is vented thru the wall and Whynter helped when we had questions about venting it that way as well as when we damaged one of the connectors, replacing it promptly.
When in the bedroom, the AC cools the room within 10 minutes and within an hour 2/3 of the rest of the house is cooling down as well. We have been thrilled with our purchase.
Lastly, our electric bill has seen little impact - a nice surprise - since we have run it 24 hours for several days in a row.
Thank you Sylvane - we are referring friends to your website!!

Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
After doing my research on-line, I purchased the ARC-13W/S. Our home was built with a central AC unit on the 1st level but not the second. Tired of installing and removing the 5K BTU window units each year I went for a indoor unit. Works great, also added a 9" fan to move the air around, my second floor is now perfect. The unit is in the second bedroom and the unit cools two bedrooms and one bathroom without a problem. Side benefit, no Stink Bugs coming in via the window AC units. I now have full screens on the window's that once only had half screens.
Comments about Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner:
After initially receiving a damaged package and refusing it back to Sylvane, they credited me $50 and delivered a pristine package very promptly.
This unit is by far the best portable of the two brands I've tried (the other one being a Royal Sovereign model ARP-3012/3012S).
The Whynter Sno 13,000 BTU is easily less than half as noisy and cools more effectively than that other model I got from Sears.
And so far, it's reliability is excellent. I've been running it many hours each day for about a month now and it's handling the load. It's made to run many hours each day and it's more power-efficient than some other brands also.
I would not hesitate to recommend this brand. It's not given me a bit of trouble so far, and the way this thing is built I wouldn't be surprised if it exceeds the one year warranty on the unit as a whole and 5 years on the compressor.
