Comments about Whynter RPD-302W 30 Pint Dehumidifier:
I've had this model about a month now for our basement and it's wonderful. Most importantly, it's very quiet, generating about the sound of a small fan running. Our last dehumidifier, a Whirlpool, rattled like a Model-T. This one's a little smaller, so the bucket needs to be emptied usually once a day. I like that you can set the desired humidity level. The readings show the current humidity and temperature. When the bucket is full, the machine simply stops, including the fan, until you empty it. The controls also include a rather useless way to set starting and stopping times for up to 24 hours if you want. I don't really see any use for that. During the summer we need a dehumidifier to keep mustiness down in the basement, so it pretty much needs to run continuously, not on a 24-hour cycle, especially after long rainy periods. I haven't used the drainage hose so can't comment on that.
