The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner effectively removes dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. This three-stage air purifier uses two filters to remove 99.97% of common airborne particles invisible to the human eye, leaving you with a cleaner, healthier indoor environment. In addition to two air filters, the Winix 5300 HEPA Air Purifier features PlasmaWave technology to neutralize bacteria, odors, and gases in the air. This compact room air purifier treats bedrooms, home offices, and other areas measuring up to 350 square feet.
The Winix 5300 Air Cleaner quietly and efficiently captures and neutralizes a broad range of indoor pollutants, making it an excellent air purification system for asthma- and allergy-sufferers, pet owners, and anyone looking to improve their indoor air quality. The air purifier pulls in room air through the air inlet grille on the front panel and cleans the air using a three-stage treatment process:
Air passes through a carbon pre-filter in the first filtration stage. This filter traps dust, pollen, lint, and pet hair. In addition to capturing large particles visible to the human eye, the carbon filter also reduces odors like those left in the air by cigarette smoke and cooking.
After air is processed through the pre-filter, it goes through a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. This filter captures 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, pet dander, mold spores, dust, and smoke.
The final stage of cleaning uses Winix PlasmaWave technology. This technology generates thousands of negatively and positively charged ions each second. As the ions are released, they combine with water vapor in the air to form Hydroxyls. These hydrogen and oxygen molecules attack virus-causing bacteria, chemical vapors, odors, and gases in the air and neutralize them on contact. No harmful ozone is generated with PlasmaWave technology.
With an electronic control panel and advanced automatic capabilities, the Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Purifier is simple to operate and easy to maintain. The digital display panel features soft-touch buttons and user-friendly indicator lights. The fan speed indicator displays the current speed setting with a green light, while the mode indicator illuminates independent signals for the sleep and auto functions.
Additionally, intuitive sensors and indicators ensure efficient operation and help you maintain proper upkeep for lasting performance. To perform effectively, air purifiers require clean air filters. The replace filter indicator illuminates on the control panel when it is time to replace the HEPA air filter (typically once per year). This helps your Winix air cleaner deliver optimum air purifying performance and guarantees healthy air circulation.
The air quality sensor automatically monitors the amount of pollutants in your indoor air and automatically adjusts to an appropriate fan setting for each air quality level. The air quality indicator, located next to the air quality sensor, displays the current air quality level on the control panel. An orange light on the air quality sensor indicates rising levels of airborne pollutants, while a red light notifies the unit of poor air quality. When the red light illuminates, the Winix 5300 Air Cleaner will adjust the fan speed to a maximum setting to treat the air immediately and quickly.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
I use the Winix PlasmaWave 5300 in my bedroom to remove dust and pollen from the air for relief of allergy symptoms.
It is super quiet while moving a lot of air.
It is easy to adjust manually.
It also automatically self-adjusts according to the air quality in the room.
There is a slight pulsing sound but not enough to bother me.
It's a little hard to move because there's no lifting handle and it has a hard slick slippery surface.
Good value AND good quality!
I'm very happy with the product.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
I haven't owned it long enough to know the life span yet. I bought it for a fairly large bedroom in an apartment. The room is next door to an apartment with a smoker and the smoke smell leaks into my apartment. It has helped to ease the smell, but not entirely. It would probably work better in a smaller, more confined area. But no complaints. It definitely helps and is very user friendly and easy to set up.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
I have this in my bedroom, running 24/7. My 2 dogs sleep with me, and I needed to reduce my allergy symptoms. I love the display that tells me the air quality, and I don't mind when it occasionally gets noisy in the high speed mode. Sometimes a dog will stand in front of it, and the air quality immediately goes into the red zone. It's hard to tell about my allergy symptoms, but I feel better knowing that this is good for my health.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
The Winex 5300 is used in one of the bedrooms. Most helpful is the auto sensing feature which really seems to work. I turn this on at night and the unit runs on low until it senses lower air quality then increases the fan speed until air quality returns to an acceptable level (for the machine that is, the level is non adjustable.) Shaking a pillow case in front of the machine will cause the auto feature to activate and increase the fan speed so with this un scientific test the feature seems to work well.
At low speed the unit is almost inaudible. Its run at number 3 all day then on auto at night.
The air quality in the bedroom stays high with no visible airborne dust.
As a suggestion, it would be helpful to have the setting switch illuminated so it can be found in the dark or low light situations. Especially since its a flush mounted pressure type of switch.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
Prior to buying this unit I have done some research and it looked like this model is the best option in the sub-$200 range. Once I had a chance to run it for a couple of weeks, I am convinced that it is. Compared to Honeywell and other department store brands, it occupies little space and is actually very quiet. I can't hear it on the lowest speed setting, and it is barely audible in a very quiet room when running at the next higher setting. The air quality sensor actually seems to work as the unit kicks into high gear whenever something is cooking nearby, etc.
Compared to a Honeywell 50250, this unit offers a more attractive design, and is much more space-efficient being a tall vertical setup vs. a round keg. The quality of plastic also seems higher. As far as noise, there is simply no contest here: this Wimix sounds quitter on the highest (non-turbo) setting than Honeywell on the lowest one. Just by looking at the two units side-by-side one realizes that Winix is a generation ahead.
Given that I only had this thing for a few weeks, I have not had a chance to test how long the filter will last. The price of the replacement ones, however, seems reasonable versus the competition.
The only thing I am not sure of here is the plasma wave feature. I obviously can't tell a difference in the quality of output air due solely to this feature, so I am neutral as far as it goes, and suspect that it could just be a marketing gimmick.
The lack of a remote is a non-issue – once you turn this thing on, it just stays on forever.

Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
The only thing I don't like that it's pretty bulky for my room but holy cow does it work!!! I adopted a cat and I couldn't breath at the night with the accumulation of dust cat dander pollen etc etc turn this this on for 5 minutes and BAM breathe easy and super quiet!
Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
Seems to work very well, is quiet and actually attractive. My sinuses definitely feel better and it reacts almost immediately to any scents that enter the room. This is my second unit - I bought it for the living room after using one in the bedroom for about two weeks. My Mom who has asthma had purchased it two weeks before me and has a significant improvement with her breathing. Even the doctor noticed that she has no wheezing any more.
Comments about Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner:
This product is certainly very quiet; doesn't bother us at all to have it in the bedroom. It's also easy to use and access to the filters is easy. I'm not sure, though, just how effective it is. I got it because my allergies were flaring up during our abnormally warm winter, but after 3 weeks or so of use I'm still suffering, though maybe not as much as I was before. Other reviews have touted almost miraculous results for allergy sufferers; I haven't experienced that, at least not yet.
