What does 'Energy Star Most Efficient' mean?
The 'Most Efficient' mark is an extension of the Energy Star program. It recognizes products that deliver cutting-edge energy efficiency along with the latest in technological innovation. These products represent the year’s very best for energy savings and environmental protection.
This distinction is especially important if you plan on operating your dehumidifier frequently since you’ll save money over time. Passing rigorous tests, these dehumidifiers allow you to enjoy significant savings compared to conventional models.
What is the ‘Energy Star Most Efficient’ criteria?
All products must be Energy Star certified to be considered in the new program. If they're consistent with Energy Star standards, dehumidifiers must meet criteria to be considered for the Energy Star Most Efficient label, including these minimums:
The Integrated Energy Factor (IEF) is based on a dehumidifier's efficiency. It's expressed in terms of liters of water removed per kWh of electricity consumed. In general, the higher the IEF, the most efficient the dehumidifier. The chart above shows the minimum requirements dehumidifiers have to reach in order to qualify for the Energy Star Most Efficient program.

What dehumidifiers can be listed as 'Energy Star Most Efficient'?
Both portable dehumidifiers and whole-house dehumidifiers are eligible for the recognition. But dehumidifiers with greater than 155 pints per day are excluded.
