Since we’ve added the Blueair Classic 280i and Blueair Aware Indoor Air Monitor some have wondered exactly how to set-up and remotely control these integrated Wi-Fi products. If you’ve downloaded the Blueair Friend App (iTunes, Google Play) and wonder what to do next, keep reading below for some helpful tips and tricks.
Connecting Your Unit to the App
Once the app has been downloaded connecting it to your air purifier, indoor air monitor, or both is as simple as following the onscreen prompts. Check out this short video to walk you through the set up process.
Controlling Your Air Purifier
A great feature of the Blueair Friend Smartphone App is the ability to have complete control of the Blueair Sense+ right in the palm of your hand. Gone are the days of having to manually adjust settings. Once you’ve connected the app to your purifier, you’ll be able to operate it remotely from any location.
Adjusting Air Flow Speed
Cycling between the air cleaner's 3 air flow speeds is as simple as the press of a finger. Just a touch engages its lowest setting. Continue to press the icon to increase speed. When all bars in the circle are gray, the fan is off.
Program it to Run Automatically
One of the unique features of controlling the Sense+ with the app is the ability to set a cleaning schedule. Maybe you only want it to run on certain days of the week. Navigate to the Night-Mode Day Selector tab and press the days you want the cleaner to run. The purifier will turn off automatically on the days that aren’t highlighted gray.
LED Light Brightness
When the purifier is on and cleaning you might notice an illuminated LED light on the front of the unit. It’s probably not all that obvious during the day but at night when you’re trying to sleep it might become more of a distraction. Luckily, the light’s brightness can be quickly adjusted by tapping in the LED Light Brightness circle on the app. There’s 4 brightness levels to choose from or you can just turn the light off completely.
Child Lock Ability
Since the air purifier can also be operated manually, children's little hands might come near the machine and accidentally change your settings. That’s why the app allows you to turn a child lock on, ensuring that settings remain just the way you wanted.
Air Quality Monitoring
Check the Blueair Friend App in the morning and instantly know your local outdoor air quality before you ever step outside. Some of the information it provides includes your local Air Quality Index (AQI), Fine Particulate Matter (PM 2.5), and Ozone Quality (O3). This information is provided through the app whether you have a product connected to it or not.
When the app is connected to a Blueair Aware Indoor Air Monitor you’ll be able to monitor your indoor air as well. You’ll have real-time info on Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Fine Particulate Matter, humidity, and temperature right on your handheld device.
The monitor can be synced with the Blueair Sense+ so that the purifier automatically adjusts its settings based on the readings. You can track indoor air quality over time to see which days or times are the best and worst in your home.
Using the Blueair Friend App in conjunction with Sense+, Aware Monitor, or both puts your air quality firmly in your hands. No longer are you struggling to operate an air purifier when you’re away from home, nor is determining whether your indoor air quality is actually improving a guessing game. Everything you need is right in front of you on your phone or tablet.
