How Do Ductless Mini Splits Work?
So, your certified HVAC professional has gotten your ductless system set up. Everything is ready to go, but it must be complicated, right? A mini split looks like a really complicated system. Actually, controlling a mini-split system and how the unit works are pretty simple. It requires just a few steps to get you on your way to a more comfortable environment.
Step 1: You Select Your Desired Temperature
All mini-splits have an indoor handling unit that is usually either mounted on a wall or recessed into the ceiling. No matter which configuration you have, when you select your desired room temperature, the indoor unit begins to run.
Step 2: The Indoor Unit Blows Air Over the Coils
As it's running, the indoor unit takes the warm air in your home and blows it over its evaporator coils.
Step 3: Heat is Removed
Because the coils have refrigerant running through them, the refrigerant is able to absorb the heat from your indoor air and carry it to the outdoor unit via the refrigerant line.
Step 4: The Heat is Expelled
The captured warm air is then expelled out of the condenser, and the cycle continues unit the set indoor temperature is reached.
