Energy Efficiency and Mini Split Air Conditioners
Mini-split systems are one of the most efficient ways to cool your home. Their efficiency is measured by a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and SEER 2, a slightly newer standard introduced in 2023. The higher the SEER or SEER 2 rating, the more efficient the unit. According to current federal requirements, mini-splits used in the United States must have a SEER rating greater than 14 or a SEER 2 rating greater than 13.4.
Another important energy rating is the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER), which looks at energy usage per square foot of cooling. But SEER, SEER 2, and EER all rate your product's efficiency.
