Use the 4-inch Filtrete 1550 Ultra Allergen 3M filters to rid your home or office of these issues. They feature an MPR of 1550 and MERV rating of 12, which is the base level for Filtrete’s highest-end Healthy Living filters.
Filtrete Healthy Living 1550 filters are great for reducing a variety of unwanted particles and odors from your air:
- Dust and lint
- Mold spores, pollen, and pet dander
- Bacteria and viruses
- Smoke
A MERV 12 rating is known as the highest cleaning rating in residential environments. Since they’re four-inches thick, they can be used up to a year before being changed out. Make sure your HVAC is designed for a four-inch thick filter though. Actual filter depth is 4-3/8 inches.
Adding one of these allergen-reducing and odor reduction filters to your HVAC/furnace allows their electrostatically charged fibers to act as magnets to attract and trap microscopic particles out of your air.

Looked at other sites, but they did not clearly distinguish the ""slim fit"" from the regular full size. Sylvane had them separately listed, and I can confirm I received the correct filters. This is probably a good air filter but Sylvane's product info does not give any instruction or advice on selecting a filter based on how much air flow will be restricted. This filter is so dense that it caused my forced air system to malfunction because it could not push air through it.
