The Kidde Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector connects directly to your smart device so you receive real-time notifications in case of water or freezing temperature detection.
This battery-operated device is small, fitting into the palm of your hand and will fit close to appliances where a leak may occur. Place it in a crawl space or beside pipes or water heaters.
Fast & Easy Set-Up
Place the Kidde smart water leak and freeze detector on a level, clean, dry surface in the lowest location where water may be present. Avoid metallic surfaces or where it may be trapped by rising water; install near these appliances or areas:
- Water Heater
- Sump Pit
- Utility Sinks
- Kitchen & Bath Sinks
- Toilets
- Washing Machines
- Refrigerator/Freezer
- Dishwasher
Connect to Wi-Fi
Kidde makes it easy to connect. Simply scan the QR code on the quick start guide and install the Kidde app. Open the app and create & activate or login to your account, following the simple directions. When prompted, scan the code on the back of the device to connect the alarm, then complete in-app steps.

This Wi-Fi detector also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice alerts.
Note: When using more than one device, note that they do not communicate with each other or other smart devices.
Alarm Operation
This smart water leak and freeze detector has visual indicators as well as mobile app notifications. The red LED will blink every 60 seconds during normal operation. When low temperature or water is detected, it flashes and beeps loudly every 3 seconds. When the alarm hush is used, the device’s red LED will flash every 15 seconds only—no beep. When the battery is running low, the LED will blink and chirp every 60 seconds.
The default settings for the device include 30-minute alarm duration, 1-hour battery conserve mode, and 12-hour status update to the app. These can be adjusted in the app, but can affect battery life.
Additional Features
- Testing: You can test the alarm when necessary, by shorting the two metal contacts with a metal object such as a paper clip. Be sure to test if the device is accidentally dropped.
- Nuisance Alarms: Should the alarm sound and you know why this is happening, you can use the app to silence it for 8-10 minutes while you deal with the situation. You can use Hush® repeatedly if needed.
- Cleaning: Simply wipe the outside and the contacts on the bottom with a clean, dampened cloth using water only.
- Batteries: This water leak and freeze detector uses 2 AA alkaline batteries.
