This Activated Carbon Filter (100053, formerly F397) is designed for use in the Dri-Eaz DefendAir HEPA 500 Air Scrubber. Installing this filter equips the HEPA 500 to capture a wide variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including soot and smoke, food odors, fumes from paint and paint thinners, sewer odors, and many other compounds. Available in a pack of 4.

- Utilizes Extruded Activated Carbon – Uses 2.2 pounds of carbon pellets manufactured to uniform size to help ensure maximum airflow and maximum contact
- Uses Adsorption Method - Works by adsorption, carbon filtration’s natural ability to attract and hold gas and liquid molecules on its surface.
- Large Filtration Capacity - One pound of carbon has 534,438 square yards of available surface – equivalent to the area covered by more than 100 football fields.
Installing the Carbon Filter
No modification of your DefendAir unit is required when installing this filter. You'll simply place the new carbon filter inside the cabinet in front of HEPA filter and then re-secure the cover. The capacity of the carbon filter will vary widely depending on conditions, but it should be replaced when a decline of effectiveness is noted.

We use the carbon filter in the HEPA 500 in front of the two other filters. Everything seems okay. I could not find an arrow for air flow direction, so I hope we have it installed correctly. Maybe the filter is not directional, but it would be nice to know-----especially if we take the carbon filter out and have to put it back with the same air flow direction.
