Info & Guides

Description

Parched winter air can truly make the colder months unbearable if you don't have the right solution. Alleviate your dry skin, soothe irritated nasal passages, and stop costly humidity damage to your home with the Honeywell HE280D Whole House Bypass Humidifier! This furnace humidifier works with any forced air furnace to provide comfortable humidified air in every room of your home. Using efficient PerfectFLO water distribution technology, the HE280D distributes roughly 17 gallons of moisture per day to cover homes up to 4,000 square feet.

Works With Your Furnace

The Honeywell HE280D Humidifier installs easily onto the warm air supply or return air duct of your furnace and hooks to a drain line with simple DIY installation. To operate, warm air from your furnace blows through a water-soaked evaporator pad and wicks up moisture, creating vapor. Warm humidified air is then propelled out through your air ducts to circulate throughout all the rooms of your home. The HE280D includes an easy-to-use digital humidistat that monitors your home's relative humidity and activates the humidifier when it falls below your set humidity level.

Bypass Design for Easy Maintenance

The Honeywell HE280D Whole House Humidifier features a flow-through design that helps keep the unit clean of microorganisms by routinely rinsing and draining itself instead of drawing stagnant water from a reservoir. Plus, the evaporator pad helps filter out minerals from hard water and other impurities for cleaner moisture. These features contribute to less maintenance throughout the humidifying season.

Additional Benefits and Features

  • Uses 30% Less Water: Honeywell's water-saving technology helps this unit use 30% less water than conventional whole-house models. That translates into 20 gallons of water savings!

  • Easy DIY Installation: Easy step-by-step installation instructions and all the parts you'll need are included. Plus, there's an online installation video available for reference.
  • Protects Your Interior: Properly humidified air helps protect your wood floors and furnishings from damage.
  • Low Maintenance: Bypass humidifiers typically require cleaning and replacement evaporator pads just once a year, depending on your water quality.
  • Saves Energy: Improved humidity can actually make it feel warmer indoors.
  • Set It and Forget It: Set your desired humidity level on the humidity control and the humidifier will run only when needed. No need to turn it on and off manually.

    Disappointed in Honeywell

My first Honeywell humidifier lasted 20 years, the 2nd lasted 3 years (stuck open solenoid valve, then the transformer died too). I would have switched to a different brand, but that would have meant reworking the mounting. So, I installed this new HE280D. I could not get it to work at first, but after an hour of fiddling, I discovered the factory installed pressure sensor tube was on the wrong nipple. Swapped the tubes and it is working fine now. Not confidence inspiring about quality. Another issue, the last HE280 I bought included an install kit (bypass duct, aluminum tape, electrical wire, water hose and other hardware). This one didn't even include mounting screws for the humidifier! I will say the new humidistat seems like an improvement. I just hope it holds up. Also it includes an outdoor temperature sensor, but no instructions for installation. I had to go online to find that info. And the wire for the temp sensor is only about 3ft long, hardly enough for any installation. I used to think Honeywell meant quality, but no longer.
