The purifier continued to emit VOCs after several days of running it. Coway's response to this: ""It is impossible to remove all odors. In addition to Airmega, occasional ventilation is required to help eliminate strong odors."" If the air quality outside is bad, how are you suppose to ventilate the space the purifier is in? Isn't the reason to buy an air purifier is to improve your indoor air quality, not make it worse? I bought this based on Consumer Reports' rating of this product. I need to return it.

Thankfully I won't have to use this all that much as I already have a Honeywell fresh air heat recovery ventilator. Two neighbors heat with wood, so when the wind is blowing in my direction, then the ventilator could suck in some smoke. In that case I would turn off the ventilator and use this room air purifier to get rid of the smoke. I already used it twice for that purpose. You need to run it for a little while at first to clear out that filtered smell. It's just nice to have this just in case. The box it came in appeared to have quite a bit of wear. That leads me to believe that this particular unit probably got returned at least once already. It cleared the air and made breathing while I sleep a lot easier. Normally I only breathe through one nostril. I was happy to be breathing through both nostrils.
