This is my first portable a/c so maybe they are all this bad? I bought the size that should have been more than adequate for my room size but if it's mid-80s outside my room MIGHT get down to 76-77 degrees as the coolest inside. When it's hotter outside, it remains hotter inside...usually something like 78-79. Everything else is fine...installation do-able for 1 person; not horribly loud; controls are fine; remote is fine; exhausting condensation through the hose has worked so far tho I'm not in a super humid area. (Philly) A stupid thing about it: the lighted display on the front cannot be turned off! Even in sleep mode when it's dimmed it's a bright white light in the bedroom. Dumb design...I had to tape a piece of cardboard over it. Re lack of cooling, it's certainly possible it's just a flaw with my unit. However, since warranty requires me to pay to ship it wherever it's probably not worth trying to have this looked at. NOTE: if you buy it anyway and if the right side of the unit will be highly visible where you want to position this, be aware that there are huge and ugly warning stickers that cover at least half the side of the unit. It's the sort of info that would normally be on the back except the back of this has no space for it.
