The filter of compressed paper is good system. Folks need to understand when this type of filter no longer holds its shape and becomes saturated with water, it will not work. Simply being wet will not suffice. The surface of this filter must be clean free of Alkaline deposits. If in doubt, replace it. I was pleasantly surprised.
