The My Mold Detective Mold Test Kit is a do-it-yourself product that provides accurate third-party laboratory diagnosis of the presence of mold in your space. This easy-to-use system employs the same methods and technology used by professionals.
Fast, accurate results are provided to you by a nationally accredited laboratory after payment of an additional lab processing fee. The testing results will provide suggestions for additional services if they indicate remediation steps are required.
Why Test for Mold?
Mold can appear in your home in places that have been exposed to water damage or persistent high humidity. These can be difficult to see, occurring behind walls, underneath flooring, and within structural elements, eventually causing widespread damage.
Mold spores float in the air and settle on every surface, triggering both allergies and asthma in sensitive people. While a musty odor may indicate the presence of mold, spores are tiny, invisible to the naked eye, so testing is the sure-fire way to discover its existence in your home.
Patented Air Sampling Pump with 3-Step Process
My Mold Detective uses an air sampling pump to collect all molds, even lighter spores not readily attracted to Petri dish sampling methods. Professionals note that sampling both inside and outside (control) air is the only way to obtain accurate results. This simple process takes only a few minutes to perform, and less than a week to receive certified results from the lab.
- Conduct an air sample outside to serve as a “control” or “baseline” sample. Insert an opened cassette on the inlet tray and push the green button on the pump. The pump automatically turns off after 5 minutes. Remove and reseal the cassette.
- Repeat this process for indoor rooms. One sample can represent a room of up to 800 to 1,000 square feet in size. For surface sampling, press the tacky surface of the Tape Lift onto the desired surface, close onto the white backer.
- Log onto www.MyMoldDetective.com to register your samples. Follow the online instructions and finalize by processing your payment for the lab analysis: $35 per sample for 3-day processing and $50 per sample for express 24-hour service. Insert your Air Sample Cassettes and Tape Lifts into the included pre-addressed envelope and mail them.
Online-Lab Report and Support
Once your samples are received and tested by a third-party American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) accredited lab, you will be notified via email when the report is ready. The customized report is available online and will tell you if your mold levels are "Normal", "Slightly Elevated", or "Elevated".
If levels are elevated, My Mold Detective gives property owners the opportunity to contact its help line to discuss recommendations for next steps, which may include recommended additional professional testing, and contact information of pre-approved remediation companies.

I'm a professional. I'm OSHA certified in mold remediation. I have sent a thousand homeowners to purchase and use this test kit. Sylvane has a good name. i do not like the name of MY MOLD DETECTIVE TEST KIT.
The results sent via email are done pretty well. they are almost too simplistic. This is a serious business involving peoples lives. Plenty of room for cute names elsewhere in this business, but not in the mold arena. Lets instill confidence in the homeowners thoughts.
Call the dehumidifier MY HOME BLOW DRYER UNIT EE070 if you want to. but change the name of the test kit to something professional sounding. The Sylvane Home Mold Sampler. The Sylvane Mold Spore Collector. The Sylvane 404 Tester. sales@UInderStructureRepair.com has been making homes safe in east Tennessee since 2015 and we definitely do not play around.
Otherwise. its the ONLY tester i use and the ONLY one that I recommend. We test every single home for mold spores and Radon and Humidity. EVERY LAST ONE and we fix it all.
