We use unit as a multi-room dehumidifier during humid months for a location near a pond. Prevents condensing conditions from developing when temperatures cool in the early morning. Before installing unit we had condensation issues that required repairs.

I live in a humid area in East Tennessee in an old house that will forever leak. I carefully measured the humidity in the house before installation and after. This in-wall dehumidifier has reduced humidity in my small house by 15%. What used to be 67% is now closer to 50%, and falls lower as the outside humidity comes down. My air-conditioning could not pump enough moisture out of the house. I alway was able to poke a hole in the wall to get to my washing machine drain, so I had an easy way to get the water drained out of the house. I cleaned out a wall inset of shelves, and the best location was next to my kitchen table. It was a problem for me that there is no On/OFF switch, and we don't like eating with the low white noise it generates. I purchased an appliance switch with an on/off that we can use to turn it off if we need to. It is not loud, and not rattles. But certainly is not something you want to sit next too and have a conversation. I have asthma, and it is helping making life better. I love this thing and would buy another with no doubts.

The best way to keep my basement dry. I truly love the unit!!! My basement is about 1000 sq ft. My moisture level is higher than normal because of the laundry and I have a sump pump as well. It is silent (not noisy! you have an option to hard wire it to the outlet or have a plug near the wall where you plan to install it. The unit comes with a hose however we installed a PVC pipe and connected it with a drain at the sum pump area. I would definitely recommend this unit because of its slick look, silence (small noise level), and does the job for semi moist basement. The basement moist level was at around 72 and I keep it now at 49

I purchased this exact dehumidifier from Sylvane in June 202. Order number S807793. I was tired of buying the cheap-looking floor units, and I wanted a nicer looking in-wall unit. It was treated lovingly, as i faithfully cleaned the filter and made sure it was clear of bugs, debris, dust, etc. It lasted for approximately two summers, then stopped dehumidifying the air. Emailed Santa Fe tech support, and confirmed the diagnosis with two local HVAC professionals. There is a refrigerant leak someplace in the system. It would cost me close to $1k to fix it, even with free parts, as the replacement warranty is only for 1 year. That's how much I paid for the unit. Long story short; Do you want to buy an expensive dehumidifier that looks nice and lasts for approximately 2.5 years, or a much less expensive floor-style dehumidifier that actually lasts longer? 2.5 years of dehumidification for $1k gets this product/company a 1-star rating.
