Dual-Hose Cooling, Auto-Draining Technology

We switched from window A/C units to portable single hose units several years ago. Last year the upstairs single hose unit failed and we switched to a dual hose Whynter ARC-14S unit and were very please with how effective it was and also relatively quieter. This year the old single hose unit downstairs failed and I took the opportunity to upgrade to a Whynter ARC-12SD. Again the difference was very noticeable and we are extremely pleased with the performance from a relatively quieter unit. During the cooler months they easily roll into the corner of a closet so are a lot easier on the back than window units. If you live in area where A/C is only needed a few months of the year do yourself a favor and buy one of the dual hose Whynter units. I am certain you will be please with their performance and ease of installation.

I looked for a long time before buying this unit. When the box arrived, I was shocked at the size and weight - almost 100 lbs!!!! But once unpacked, the unit was much smaller and easier to move around. I have a 350 square foot finished attic space that I placed this unit in. After a quick installation, I turned it on and was a little surprised by how load it was, but I have no experience with these kind of units, so I assume that its a normal sound level. The room was almost 90 degrees, and it took almost 3 hours to get the room down to 75 degrees. Doesn't seem great but in an attic space, in the middle of the day, in Southern California's summer heat - I didn't think it was too bad. Not to mention that there is a huge opening in the floor where the stairs enter the attic, and all the hot air from the 3000 square foot house funnels right up into the attic. So, I honestly think that given the extreme condition of my application, this machine does a decent job. As far as design goes, it looks like a little nondescript robot - clean lines - nice color. I don't like the temperature display at all - ridiculously bright neon blue. I guess it's great if you need to read it from 50 feet away, but just ugly. All in all, this AC unit is great value and solid performer. I would recommend this to anyone. Sylvane also has the best prices I could find anywhere online.
