These are particles measuring 100 times smaller than the width of a human hair, including:

How It Works
The Aprilaire 5000 Electronic Air Cleaner installs on or near your furnace or air handler out of sight to remove airborne particles as air travels through your HVAC system. When air enters the air cleaner, airborne allergens and particles are charged in an electrical field and filtered out permanently by 72 square feet of high-efficiency microfiber filters. Working in unison with your HVAC system, clean, conditioned air is then distributed throughout your entire home through your supply ductwork. Under typical use, the Aprilaire 5000 cleans and changes the air in every room of your home more than 4 times per hour.

I have suffered from hay fever and allergies for my entire life, and I am now 65. I have been treated by an Ear-nose-throat doctor for years, and have had to take antibiotics for sinus infections along with antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays, but with little relief. Someone recomended that I try an electronic air cleaner to go with my home air conditioner. I purchased an Aprilaire 5000 about 3 years ago, and my allergy problems have become almost non-existent. Once a year, I have the unit cleaned and I replace the filtering element, and the unit works wonderfully. The Aprilaire 5000 provides me with safe, quality air, relieves my allergies, and has had no mechanical problems. It is one of the best investments that I have ever purchased. I have probably saved enough in Doctor and medical bills to pay for the unit.

I recently had a Carrier HVAC system installed in my home. I wanted a Carrier infinity air purifier to match my system. I talked to my HVAC installer and he said he could not get it. So I called Carrier direct. Carrier told me that they are available, so I wanted to know why. I did my research and found out that Carriers air purifier gave off a strange odor from the ionizer, and you have to keep turning it off to and run the fan to get rid of the smell. The installers didn't want to have the aggravation of an unhappy customer. That;s when I came across the Aprilaire 5000. No odors. The filters are reasonably priced and easy to install, and it comes with a remote. I'm glad I went with Aprilaire. And no strange odors.
