The Aprilaire Model 76 Digital Dehumidifier Control communicates with your dehumidifier, allowing you to control the operation of the unit from a distance. Using an onboard sensor, the Model 76 Dehumidifier Control monitors the relative humidity in the space in which it is located and displays the measured relative humidity on the digital display.
The Model 76 is designed for use with any dehumidifier requiring a normally open control, including select Aprilaire and Santa Fe dehumidifier models, and can be used as a communicating remote control with the exception of the Aprilaire 1730A.
How it Works
This is a wired control unit that must be hardwired to your dehumidifier. The Model 76 digital control can also be used as a communicating remote control for your dehumidifier, allowing you to set the relative humidity level for your home and control your Aprilaire dehumidifier from a convenient living space location. This makes it easy for you to control your Aprilaire dehumidifier if it is located in an inconvenient or hard-to-access area.

This humidistat can be configured two ways; as an external or remote controller. External means the humidity is controlled at the humidistats location. I located it in the room with high humidity and connected our Sante Fe Ultra 70 DH to the air handler covering the area with the high humidity. This installation fixed the high humidity issue completely. The high humidity was caused by an oversized heat pump unit that did not run long enough to dehumidify particularly in the early morning. I like the way the “ON” screen indication flashes when the DH is actually running and not flashing when it is on standby. That gives me all the info I need about the process. So far I have it set to 57% RH and it controls just fine.
