The Aprilaire Model 800 Steam Humidifier is a high-capacity, whole house humidifier with dual sensors to maintain optimal humidity in a variety of climates in large homes. This canister steam humidifier is ideal for whole house applications where evaporative humidifiers are less practical. Working independently of your HVAC system, this system delivers optimum levels of humidity throughout all the rooms of your home, distributing up to 34.6 gallons of humidity per day. That’s enough to cover as much as 6,200 square feet.
Model 800 vs. Model 865
This Model 800 steam humidifier is most ideal for:

How It Works
The system is installed to run independently of your HVAC system, delivering steam humidity to the rooms of your home using your existing ductwork. It generates steam by energizing 2 electrodes that extend into the canister’s water reservoir. The current flowing between these 2 electrodes causes the water to boil, creating steam.
Steam humidity then flows through a steam hose and is injected into the moving air stream through a distribution tube. Humidified air then travels evenly through your air ducts and into the rooms of your home. The Model 800’s total humidifying capacity depends on the electrical draw you’ve chosen. At 110 volts, the system delivers 11.5 gallons of moisture per day. At 208 volts, it releases 20.5 gallons of humidity per day. At 240 volts, the system delivers 23.3 gallons per day.

We replaced a Honeywell whole house humidifier. It was junk ... the air handler wouldn't stop running and the humidity level couldn't reach 40%. It overworked the system and used a ton of water as the old unit was on a drip system. Although our new unit was just installed yesterday, I'm amazed at how well it works and the air handler isn't always on. In addition, I'm looking to save on my electric and water bill too.
