Can you provide a short history of Danby?
Danby was founded in 1947 and was family owned until 2015, at that time board member Jim Estill purchased the company. Jim has been dedicated to expanding Danby’s product offering, being more environmentally friendly, ecologically responsible, and in general following his credo of “doing the right thing”.
In recognition of Jim’s philanthropic efforts, he received the Order of Ontario in June 2017. The Order of Ontario is intended to honor any current or former longtime resident of Ontario who has demonstrated a high level of individual excellence and achievement in any field, demonstrating “the best of Ontario’s caring and diverse society and whose lives have benefited society in Ontario and elsewhere." Have Danby products been used in unique or interesting locations?
Our compact refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers were sent to Louisiana by FEMA after Hurricane Katrina. Danby built-in beverage centers have been used in suites for college football.
Is Danby involved in any charitable or civic organizations?
Danby works directly with the communities in each office. For the U.S., we donate to our City Mission, Toys for Tots, Adopt-a-Family for the holidays, muscular dystrophy, hospice services, cancer benefits, Board of Developmental Disabilities, and many other local charities.
